"Facts Are Meaningless"

Seeing as how the search feature didn't drag anything up on this issue I figured I'd start a thread.

I got locked in a debate the other day with several people about how wonderings without factual basis is just plain dumb in that it applies the same logic as ID and other fun things of "Here's our conclusion, now let's get facts to support it" that violate the Scientific Method IIRC. Much to chagrin I only succeded in getting them to break off, not concede.

It came to a head with this quote:

"As stated by Dejana in this thread. Fact is only a preception. What your mind decides is fact... is fact until proven otherwise. You see, Fact is quite worthless in a world of chaos. "

Is there foolproof effective counter-measures to this type of insanity other then pointing out the flaws in their arguments ad nasueam?

Uh....no. What the fuck can you say to "facts are meaningless"? They're outright refusing the scientific method, and, well, a sane means of gaining knowledge of the world. Just laugh at them, and their stupid-ass sophist world of nothing.

Facts by themselves are meaningless.

That's why we have theories to explain them.

Gravity is not a fact, it's a theory. Unsupported objects falling to the ground (or attraction of massive bodies, or spacetime curvature, however you want to express it) is a fact.

Wrong. The objectivity of facts is part of the definition. If they can be decided without logic and observation, they aren't facts.
