1. The Nephilem - offspring between angels who fell in love with human women. The angels were of course in typical God fashion condemned, blah blah. The question is, were the Nephilem derived from apochyra (?sp) or plain made up (yes I realise the irony of using that term when discussing religious texts) or are they actually in Biblical canon?
2. Lilith - the woman who preceded Eve, but refused to obey Adam just because he was a man. Naturally condemned by God because feminism isn't cool and she apparent is the mother of all sorts of nasties. Same question - is the story of Lilith derived from Biblical canon or the apochyra?
Are these biblical canon?

Re: Are these biblical canon?
Yes, Gen 6, and their offspring are referred to in other places. They also appear in the book of Enoch and possibly other examples of jewish folklore and myth. The Enochian account of them influences the words nephilim being translated as "giants" IIRC, in some translations.mr friendly guy wrote:1. Lilith is in jewish folklore only, not in the canon.2. Lilith - the woman who preceded Eve, but refused to obey Adam just because he was a man. I think the Talmud is a bit more than mere folklore for the Jews.Rye wrote:Lilith is in jewish folklore only, not in the canon.2. Re: Are these biblical canon?
That Lilith is not the one described. The Lilith described first appeared in the middle ages, in jewish folklore (known as "The Alphabet of Ben-Sira") that was based around talmudic/biblical heroes... that said, I did bollocks up that explanation last night, and I will blame it on being drunk.DPDarkPrimus wrote:I think the Talmud is a bit more than mere folklore for the Jews.Rye wrote:Lilith is in jewish folklore only, not in the canon.2.
