It depends on what you mean. If you mean symbolic writing, then Lucas or Straczinski takes it. If you mean depth of story, clearly Straczinski or Aasimov, but if you mean the best STORY (the one I would watch over and over again, or read over and over again), then it would have to be Lucas. Asimov was revolutionary in his own ways, but Lucas is clearly in a class by himself.
On the other hand, Lucas could never have written B5. He could not have written Nightfall. Asimov could never have written B5 or SW, and Straczinski could never have written SW or Nightfall.
Asimov is clearly the one that stands out the most from the others in terms of style, but none of them could have written the others' stories. I think this really comes down to a preference pick.

Anyone who didn't vote for Isaac Asimov in that poll is a damned fool. As much as I like JMS, and to a more limited degree, George Lucas, they aren't even in Mr. Asimov's league. I was expecting the poll to include people like Robert Heinlein, Ben Bova, Sir Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov, Larry Niven, HG Wells... people like that. Isaac Asimov was one of the inventors of science fiction and fundementally shaped it, it's not fair to put him in the list.
I suppose tastes vary... but wow.

Well, I like star Wars more than I like Asimov's books, but Asimov is a much better writer then Lucas.

Yeah, I'd put Asimov, Wells and Verne as the grandfathers of sci-fi.Gil Hamilton wrote:Anyone who didn't vote for Isaac Asimov in that poll is a damned fool.
