It would seem that it does exist.

Obviously, when an evil reprobate forced me to watch this at gunpoint, as is their way, I made some observations before escaping,]
Ancient Handguns: Nooo! Dustbuster phasers. NOOOOO! *cries*
The Crew: Right. They're all old. Where's the ancient-youth machine? Even if the Aurora didn't have one (and we /know/ that the medical bay was still there) Atlantis would, and the crew would know where it could be had, right?
Why didn't they send Heimdall over? Not only would this be effective, but it's almost certain that they'd be more willing to trust an Asgard (even if he has got no nads) than a human. Which makes me wonder if the VR system would use that, or if he'd be a bigger Asgard of the era inside it.
Good episode, could have been better.
PS: I battered him.

Okay.. About the youth device, possibility it wasn't actually invented until the ancients got back to the milky way?
think about it, last of their species on earth they'd be trying to find ways to extend their lifetime. More so than they needed too before hand.
And also i got the impression that the captain wanted to trust sheppard, but that his first officer (who at that point he'd naturally trust, and probably fuck ) was advising against it.

Edit, also... i anyone else think that ancient stasis is unusual?
30,000 years ago the asgard could suspend people indefinately, atleast thats the impression i got at the end of season 5.
But in the ancient stasis system you still age, albeit slowly.

I wouldn't think so, they were in a position to ascend during the war, as shown by the ascended chick being in pegasus and talking about living there when she ascended. I think their techno-development must have been at its peak then, really.

yes thats a good point, i'd forgotten about that. however the impression i'd gotten from that episode was that she'd lived amongst the people. But hadn't actually ascended. Then after she'd ascended she saw the wraith attack on the planet and her compassion forced her to save them. At which point the others took offence and punished her. after all if the ancients were able to ascend in pegasus, why bother coming home at all?
why not sink the city then ascend themselves to escape.

no leak, just a different schedule without the stupid break.

Personally I think the "months to get back to Atlantis" is highly likely to be the speed of the Wraith. Even the Goa'uld have show better speeds crossing the vastly large milkway.
The Wraith is clearly able to remove the knowlage that the crew got stuck into the VR and have a very large control over the internal's of the simulation.

its stated within the episode, the ancients had two types of hyperdrive, interstellar and extra galactic.ggs wrote:Personally I think the "months to get back to Atlantis" is highly likely to be the speed of the Wraith. Even the Goa'uld have show better speeds crossing the vastly large milkway.

The aurora was fitted with the shorter range interstellar hyperdrive, presumably to free up energy for other technologies, ie sensors as she was a reconnasence ship.

Wouldn't speed be good for a reconnaissance ship? And also note that the ship was pretty darn big for just a reconnaissance ship, it dwarfed Daedalus.Zac Naloen wrote:its stated within the episode, the ancients had two types of hyperdrive, interstellar and extra galactic.ggs wrote:Personally I think the "months to get back to Atlantis" is highly likely to be the speed of the Wraith. well she was on a reconaissance mission either way you look at it, it may not have been her intended design originally, i was just speculating.
Resources must have been tight if thats the case.

I wished they had a close up shot of the two wraith cruisers getting blasted than a view from far away.
I found myself chuckling when Caldwell said he should send his team to familiarize themselves with Ancient tech. It was a nice touch of the main team shouldn't always go which I share myself. Heck, I wouldn't mind a totally different cast in episodes once in awhile. (Dreaming)

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

He had his pistol too. Hack, slash and blast.
I get the feeling the crew of the Aurora didn't die. I doubt the Ancients would let their own die like that.
I thought the last part with the toast was a nice touch.

Anyone else find it stupid that the decks on the Aurora are opened up by the ladders that they have there?

Yeah that hack and slash of Ronan gave me more impression that he's gonna be the Wolverine of SG:A. He's gonna fall in love with Weir and be the heartbroken dude when Weir and Sheppard hook up.

Not really. They'd be useful enough for quick access between floors, and would be a much smaller space to close off in case of leaks and so forth; also rather faster than elevators. Though I'm sure they still have one or two of those for cargo and the like... though it being the Ancients, I'm sure they could just teleport stuff around if they need toSoontir C'boath wrote:Anyone else find it stupid that the decks on the Aurora are opened up by the ladders that they have there?

Yes it would be a smaller area but I rather a sealed bulkhead with a reinforced door to get access. To me it just screams of the situation of depressurization from one deck to the other deck immediately instead of prevented it by being already sealed.Elheru Aran wrote:They'd be useful enough for quick access between floors, and would be a much smaller space to close off in case of leaks and so forth; also rather faster than elevators.
