Thanks to teh intarnets, I don't have to pay for SW comics, and thus is never ripped-off.

Sadly, even that can't hide the fact that most of the Empire/Republic issues are either fluffy crap, angsty wank or both. Finding any real gems is hard. :?

I guess we will learn in the Quinlan issues what really happend but if you think about it there is viable reason why he didnt die.

1) Quinlan only apears in the comic, not the movie ( i didnt read the book )

2) the scene in the comic shows the ATTE he is standing on getting hit, not him particulary

3) on the cover he does seem a bit beat up and half dead.

Dark Horse im sure will clear up this little problem we have here that i started but in January 2006 we will know for sure

I know that he was mentioned in the movie,

i worded my post wrong, his "death" i meant, wasnt shown in the movie, just the comic.

I well you don't find in the novelization either (it's very vague about the Order 66), so you say it's only in the comic (but that ain't infinities so it's canon).

The thing most of you are forgetting is that there were Purge Survivors. The Emperor and his easily influenced apprentice had no way of killing off all of them. If Jedi didnt want to be found they could hide much like Obi-Wan and Yoda did. Do i think Quinlan should die? I dont know

It comes down to this, Ostranders character is being killed off, he wants one last hurray before he goes on to other things

i like the Ostrander/Duressma team, good story good artist

Of course there were Purge survivors, enough to keep Vader and Palpatine's inquisitorial squads busy for more than twenty years. I don't have a problem with Vos surviving on that level, its just that it really seems he's being kept alive just so DH can keep on milking him. Still, now that the news is older, I don't have so much of a problem with it any more, even if it is still kind of stupid.

And Tychu, the thing that you seem to be forgetting here is that a lot of SDN users do not appreciate character wank. "One last hurrah" is a terrible excuse and not a lot of people are going to buy into it.

Alot of SDN users also seem to like bitching about anything and everything without giving any reason for it.

I loathe 'character wank' as much as any of you, but I'm not gonna call an author a "fucking hack" or make hyperbolic statements about continuity being shit on without actually reading the material in question. All we know at this point is that it appears that Quinlan Vos survives his vague, one panel death scene in the RotS graphic novel. That's hardly enough to start whining about. Wait for January to roll around, actually read the damn comic, and then come here and bitch until your heart's content.

IP gave his reason at the beginning of this thread, and we've gone into enough detail as to why Quinlan Vos sucks.

[portion of post edited. Ender has now sounded off on the continuity issue.] And last I checked it was ok to base an opinion on wether or not an author was a hack based on his previous work, and not upcoming material that absolutely reeks of the same shit to begin with.
All we know at this point is that it appears that Quinlan Vos survives his vague, one panel death scene in the RotS graphic novel. That's hardly enough to start whining about.
Even you're calling it a "death scene". Regardless, if he wasn't going to die in the panel, then why include him in it to begin with? Just another way for Dark Horse to include their wanktastic edgy character so he doesn't seem so goddamn irrelevant, which he is.
Wait for January to roll around, actually read the damn comic, and then come here and bitch until your heart's content.
You mean after all this you expect me to actually read this? Oh I beg to differ. I will not be reading this comic at all. I dislike the author, the character, and the plot.

Well, see, WE DO KNOW. In the ROTS Comic you see the fucker blown literally into pieces. Torso bisected and arm and leg blown off.
It comes down to this, Ostranders character is being killed off, he wants one last hurray before he goes on to other things
No, its yet another case of DHC saying "Fuck continuity, and fuck the movies". Same as how Darklighter now makes ANH, which lasts ~50 hours real time, take weeks. Same as how we see Sora Bulq get killed in AOTC, but he came back. Same as how Anakin was not the one who went to Hoghnr now.
i like the Ostrander/Duressma team, good story good artist
If you think they are a good team, and particularily if you think he is a good writer, you are sorely under exposed to good comics. Ostrander is simply a damn hack. Check out anything with Bendis/Miller. Or see what Whendon is doing with X-men, or JMS with Spiderman/FF. And certainly check out Gaimen's Marvel 1602.

Those are good writers. Ostrander isn't fit to write for Joe Blow Bubble Gum comics.

We see him blown to fucking pieces. His death in Order 66 was stated on Hyperspace on TOS. Now he lives.

Yes, it is shitting over continuity. And if you think Ostrander isn't a shitty writer, you are poorly underread on comics.

please put an image or a link to that particular image of him being blown to pieces, i dont have the comic on me but to mee it just looks like a silhoutte of Vos, i dont remember there being a clear picture of parts of him spreading everywhere.

Since you so easily compare Ostrander to Marvel writers with Marvel being the ultamite writers i think you poorly understand comics. True, comics started with superheros but be reasonable all Super Hero comics are the same. There is no originality in any SH comic authors. Its all the same. Ah here is SpiderMan hes going to fight The Green Goblin, oh wait his son is mad at Spidey now, now Spidey is going to face the Grey Goblin. Then eventually they ran out of those stories and combined series. Which is garbage. The second Star Wars combines itself with Star Trek or Gate is the day i die. This wasnt meant to start a fight about SuperHero comics

And to say Quinlan shouldnt live all because he was "blown up and beat to a pulp" goes against everything SuperHero story. Spider Man is shot how many times, how many times does he get thrown across a street into a building and then get up. How many times does any X-Man get electricuted by Magneto. They all live. Many times Jedi have been given the title SuperHeros of Star Wars. if SuperHeros live after getting beat the hell up, blown up. Then so can Jedi. (im not saying they should im saying its nothing new)

Yes, but unlike comic book superheroes, Jedi are generally bound by quaint concepts like common sense and continuity. Darth Maul was cut in half. Darth Maul died. Aayla Secura was hit in the back with enough blaster energy to blow up a small tank. Aayla Secura died. Anakin Solo was caught in a Thermal Detonator blast. Anakin Solo died. Questions?

It's his body with the fire behind him clearly visable through portions of his corpse.

No, I properly understand LITERATURE.

I see you are clearly a moron. I shall attempt to rectify this.

What makes these great is not the action sequences. It is how the characters deal with things.

Betty Ross falls for Banner not because he is kind and sweet, but because underneath it all he is exactly the same kind of abusive monster her father was.

Spider-man came from a kind and loving environment where everything was forgiven. Then he is responsible for something that is unforgivable. So he goes out night after night ins a cycle of punishment and self abuse to try and inflict upon himself the king of punishment his misplaced guilt makes him feel he deserves.

Exact same thing with Bruce Wayne (an issue Batman Begins dealt with superbly)

Superman is and always was an alien. His powers mean that while his parents loved him, they also feared him and made themselves distant. His abilities also means he always heard what was said about him and everything (and issue focused on better and in more detail in JMS's powers series and that character). His acts are not because he truly believes in "truth, justice, and the American way!", but because they are an attempt to make himself loved and accepted.

Do I even need to go into the obvious motivations of Reed Richards?

This is great writing. Not the periods of crap that come between everytime writing teams shufle every couple of years, where the dead come back to life and action and emotion are expressed through naration bubbles rahter then art and characters.
And to say Quinlan shouldnt live all because he was "blown up and beat to a pulp" goes against everything SuperHero story.
Which is well and proper because Star Wars isn't a superhero story.
Spider Man is shot how many times, how many times does he get thrown across a street into a building and then get up. How many times does any X-Man get electricuted by Magneto. They all live.
Yes, this would be shitty writing.
Many times Jedi have been given the title SuperHeros of Star Wars.
Name one. I've never seen it. So name once.
if SuperHeros live after getting beat the hell up, blown up. Then so can Jedi. (im not saying they should im saying its nothing new)
This kind of acceptance of crap is why comics are not a major art form in america. thank youfor proving my point - Ostrander can't write for shit.

Just read Insider #84, and it's pretty much confirmed that Quin is dead. Issues #81-83 are a flashback to the battle of Kashyyyk and a lengthy send-off for the character, but he does indeed die.

Why the mangled Quin on the cover? I'd guess that like many comic covers it has little to do with the actual story. What I'm hoping also is that #83 is a sort of flashback, with Quin flashing back over his life or something as he lies dying on the ground. But he does die, so you all can chill.

You two can go chew on a turd, the thread title and original post (although misinformed apparently) were what drove the discussion and arguments. And with bad comic book authors one cannot put it past a hack to try and revive their character.

Edit:

Also, this was posted earlier in the thread
Palpatine's Order 66 has changed everything. As Jedi are slaughtered across the galaxy, one has managed to cheat fate-but for how long? Badly wounded by the same troops he just led to victory, Master Quinlan Vos retreats into the jungle wilderness of the Wookiee homeworld Kashyyyk. As the clones close in, Vos must choose-stay and fight, or run and put those he loves in danger of the newborn Empire's wrath?

Pub. Date: Jan 18, 2006
Format: Full color, 32 pages
Price: $2.99
The text makes it seem as if Quinlan survives the initial attack by the clones.

Fans have every right to be mad if the continuity is threatened, especially if it's a bad attempt to milk a character.
