Dentonside is scary. I spawn outside a building, and I immediately get attacked by zombies. I run into a building, only to find it being cracked open and devoured by zombies. I run out and run really really fast to a safe place, which in my case happened to be a library with a level 1 consumer. A few hours later, I come back and move to a safer location, a hospital full of survivors. Outside, there is a lone zombie. I kick it a bit and empty my magazine into it for XP, then run into the hospital.
As I am about to go to bed tonight, I log on once more and find the zombies in the hospital munching on survivors. Quickly, I run back to the library (I had 3 APs by the time) and hide there. When I log in today, all the barricades have been cleared out, there are 3 more guys with me, and 4 zombies standing outside and the only thing that prevented me from being eaten is the fact that they're all low level and are waiting for a smart zombie to open the door for them. Not waiting for that moment, I have used my 20 or so APs to find myself a new hiding place. Hopefully, it'll last till tomorrow.
After considering the situation, I have decide that Dentonside is not my dream place after all. Yes, it ,may have great schools and libraries, but quite honestly, the neighbors are horrible. They drool and crave braiiins.
So, I've decided to move to another area. Anyone has any suggestions?
Have a very nice day.

it may seem unfair until you consider that the zombies are outnumbered 3:1, and despite all of the overhyped advances, they are not winning like they are supposed to. This feature was designed to make them as scary as they are supposed to be. So while it may mean that it is unfair to you or me, the individual human players, it is fair for the balancing of the sidesSilver Paladin wrote:Basically.darthdavid wrote:You're just jealous of the fact that us zombies now get l33t skills.

Fgalkin- If you're looking to loot, Dulston's southwest chokehold is held by the PK Scourge, so stay the hell away. If you want to partner, we could try to meet eventually halfway (Dentonside is five neighborhoods below) and go one west, to Gibsonton. There's rolling blackouts in the area from lack of scouts, but it looks like there's a low number of zombies.
Gibsonton's PD is very unreliable, it was once a prominent safehouse but after being assaulted and taken down it now is only a temporary stoppingplace. There's a buildup of Dentonside like zombie numbers [80-89, but over 36 hours ago] in the southwest of the suburb to the west, but I doubt they can range that far without some warning.
Assuming you're not a walking corpse by then, we could also try to scoot to Tollyton and Crowbank either before or after meeting [1 South, 2-3 West from Dentonside], which were nearly empty a few days ago, but I'd have to skirt the Dentonside to get there and it'd take a while.
What's your level?

Ernesto Ochoa is hiding out in Barville. Every fucking bulding was heavily barricaded and the police stations were either barricaded or had like 8 zombies in them and I'm just a level 1 noob trying to survive. Holed up and will venture more out later tonight or tomorrow. I'm a little dissapointed with how newbies are sort of left out in the cold like that.
BTW are closing doors enough to leave out zombies I seem to be unable to do anything but that.

Closing doors will prevent all zombies that don't have "Memories of Past Lives" skills. Basically noobs will stay out unless a zombie is nice enough to open it for them and leave it open. You need the Civilian Construction skill to barricade. Grab Free Running to get through heavy barricades and hide, but watch out for the Free Runner Bug [hard to explain, check the UD Wiki]
Barville was assaulted eight or nine days ago by The Undying Scourge, remnants remain. I'd get the hell out and proceed somewhere better. CoL says: "a massive attack (in Barrville)...[m]ost of the local safe houses have been cracked, [a]nd cleaned out, left with one Z keeping guard." Get out and flee. ASAP.
Don't go to Galbraith, they've seceeded from Malton like DARIS. Ridleybank is Z inhabited, Stanbury (possibly home of a vaguely friendly local human militia if they haven't died) to Rofton (a 'friendly' area that is quiet and well-fortified) is your best chance. Maybe we can meet later, Rofton is 1 north of Tollyton (my goal area).
I like Toftyton/Crowbank more now, will set out after I loot this PD I'm barricaded in assuming anyone else is setting out. [1 Ammo clip left [!]]
You're probably dead if there's no barricades in your safehouse, but you might survive- that's why I'm harping on the group idea, because bad shit happens to Newbs and it's not fun.

Hiding out in unbarricaded buildings isn't as bad as you might think. Barricades signify populations inside... zombies are more likely to bypass a building without barricades.

The North seems to be a very unfriendly place right now. The Zombies are finishing off Shearbank, there are significant Zombie actions in Millen Hills, and Petrosjko is leading a siege against a PD in Riddleybank and claiming to have set a record of the most zombies in one place. According to some reports, Earleton is completely overhwhelmed, every safehouse is cracked open, and every human is either dead or being eaten. Apparently, there is only one NT building in the area, and it is under zombie control, so there are no revivals there. I don't think that heading North is a very good idea.
Currently, the South seems to be rather nice. Another of my characters is in Tollyton, and I've seen a single zombie there [in the NE quadrant] today, and none yesterday. Apparently, all of the zombies of the region are dining up North.
That's not to say that there are nothing significant going on there. The fort in Pennville is about to become the next brain Buffet. I've actually got my zombie alt heading there for the fine dining opportunites. I also have a scout spawned in Pennville, but I'm getting his ass out of the suburb using Free Run, so I can't tell you how bad it is there, since I never show up on the streets.
of course, the South is about to take a turn for the worse, once all those zombies migrate again from the North. Maybe that is what's happening in Dentonside.
Have a very nice day.

Possibly. Zs form a loose crescent from Dentonside-Pitneybank-Peppardville, skip 1 North to Santlerville and it's connected to the main thing.
Earletown must have been cracked a while ago, reports give it only a slightly high zombie concentration. There, however, is a large ring around it on Rhodenbank and Chancelwood so they probably dispersed. We'll have lots of warning when the Scout Service starts reporting migrations south. Most of the main group action is up North, too, and that'll be obvious to find out about.

What would be good for me to leave with? Keep in min I'm a level 1 newb with no friends trying to hike halfway across the city. Should I loot till I get 2 handguns with a few clips and then run like hell from safehouse to safehouse, watching advisories for zombie incursions in the South? What's a good weapons loadout? I need to level on the way, I'm going to far for luck to carry.

Searching is a random percentage each time you click. You either get lucky or you don't.
My advice: take a combat class of some sort, level your combat skill once, grab construction and free running.
In places with signifigant numbers of survivors, there will be barricaded empty buildings for use as decoys and emergency shelter.
If you want to level, a low level survivors is going to want more than two shotguns with reloads or more than four pistol load outs. You get 1 xp for every point of damage you do to a zombie and a bonus 10 for putting it down. I got my first seven levels or so exculsively with the axe. Not as deadly but you don't have to search for ammo or reload.

Frell if I know. I'm also a level 1 n00b, for all accounts.MRDOD wrote:What would be good for me to leave with? Keep in min I'm a level 1 newb with no friends trying to hike halfway across the city. To continue the saga of my brave cop, I have made my way to the police station and got an ammo clip, so that now I can actually use my gun. The remaining APs, I've spent in hiding in a building nearby. Hopefully, the zombies will attack the extremely juicy police station, and pass my building by. I'll continue looting the PD tomorrow, to stock up on ammo, then head north into Starlingtown, then SouthEast to Pegton and Crowbank.
Passed by a zombie on the way to the PD. Dentonside is crawling with them, even the supposedly "clear" NE corner. I don't even want to think what the SW corner is like.
Have a very nice day.

IO's plan sounds good, but would it be wise to do this while advancing slowly from Dulston to Tollyton? I don't know how long it'll take for me to loot supplies, and Dulston is unconformable close to the main zombie horde. I don't want to have to level and suddenly find myself sitting inside a batallion of Zombies.
I'm going to loot till the safehouse disperses or I feel confirdent and advance squad-stile, using Barricades like cover, leveling as I go, to Tollyton. Assuming that's possible, like my question above asks.
My private still hasen't looted anything in 5 times. This will take a while.

For those of you who don't know this already, places with "Arms" in the name are bars and be quite useful. Booze heals a point of damage (and that may stop infectious bite damage) and you can find shotguns and shotgun ammo there.

I'd have my zombie join, but my roommate already has, and that could end up badly for both of us.fgalkin wrote:Petrosjko invites everyone on SDN to join the Ridleybank Resistance Front, and sends pics of the assault on the Moggridge Place PD in Ridleybank.

A word of advice, though I'm sure Ace and IO has already covered it;
If your looking for a quiet suburb, West and East Becktown's your two quiestest spots. Not to many zombies, and it's protected by several well established survivor groups.
As commander of the Second Librium Irregular's, welcome to Malton, pray we make it outta this hellhole alive....

Out of AP, but I did find a flak jacket... a lot of good that'll do me. Setting out eventually."There are currently 11 Zombies at the cinema in the corner of the city [99,0]. Half are inside. They are attempting to organize at [ED- link snipped]."

I now have Zero action points agian(Spent 140 searching over three days now) I have twenty pistol clips, Three shotguns and one loaded shotgun, plus a book, wirecutters and two flareguns.MRDOD wrote:Bullshit, I just searched 13 more times and found nothing in the PD. WTF is screwing with that number generator? There's no way in hell that I'm missing that much.
So for 140 points I've found 28 items.
I need a bloody pistol to go with all these clips.
