Silencing Firefox?
Is there anyway to silence FireFox so that it will not play music or other sounds on websites with background noices?

this problem has nothing to do with the browser. it's a general system configuration for internet browsing. assuming you're using windows XP, go under control panel, internet properties, advanced. there will be a checkbox that says play sounds in web pages. uncheck it.

internet options should be global for all browsers.CDS wrote:Wouldn't that only mute sounds in IE?Darth_Zod wrote:assuming you're using windows XP, go under control panel, internet properties, advanced. there will be a checkbox that says play sounds in web pages. uncheck it.

And another search yielded this.
Basically, AdBlock will prevent you from downloading any such files, and you probably don't want that, so this is what you can do instead.

Edit: I see that tip was also in Datana's link. Some dude wrote: /* block embedded sounds */
