Symbols of the Governments
so, can you explain the symbols of the organization? as far as I know, the Empire and Republic have the star-snowflake because theyare a galactic government, and thus they use a symbol that looka like the Galaxy. the Alliance symbol has the 3 spires that symbolize the 3 original founding members of the Alliance, Mon Mothma, Bail Organa, and Garm Bel Iblis. the CIS symbol is hexagonal, what does that stand for?
do you have soemthing to add on.

Not to be rude, but maybe you might be thinking just a little too hard on the subject. Though your theories personally could work, they are probably look the way they do because the look cool. They were created for a movie after all.
As for the symbolism of the CIS maybe thats the shape of the credits they use for money or each corner might represent a organization within the Confederacy...

yes, one of the reasons the confederacy was formed was because of capitalism, tat was the credit they chose. As for the symbolism of the CIS maybe thats the shape of the credits they use for money or each corner might represent a organization within the Confederacy...
that's right, there are 6 members of the Separitist high council, representing their respective organization (not icluding Poggle the lesser)
Suspension of disbelief says we assume that a symbol actually symbolizes something.
If I had to guess though, I'd say the three points represent something more substantial than those people, especially since we see many more than three in the "Birth of the Rebellion" deleted scene in RotS.

was that the council of 2000 senators? they wanted Palpatine to return his power to the people, not rebel. those 3 members signed the Corellian Treaty, which officialy formed an organized resistance to the Empire.Qwerty 42 wrote:If I had to guess though, I'd say the three points represent something more substantial than those people, especially since we see many more than three in the "Birth of the Rebellion" deleted scene in RotS.

Any such interpretations are pure speculation, of course. Having said that;
I've heard the Rebel emblem is actually supposed to be a stylized bird, there apparently being a dot for its eye somewhere on the emblems on Luke's flight helmet.
And as Jareth noted, the CIS eblem could well have each side, corner or "slice" representing one of the main factions; Trade Federation, Techno Union, Commerce Guild, Corporate Alliance, InterGalactic Banking Clan, and Hyper-Communications Cartel.

The symbol of the Alliance to Restore the Republic (rebellion) is indeed stylised after a bird, a phoenix to be exact. It almost certainly is symbolism for the group's goal of the rebirth of the Galactic Republic. If you want to look deeper into the symbolism, the fact that the phoenix is reborn in fire could symbolise the Alliance's willingness to fight a civil war for this goal.Lord Sander wrote:Any such interpretations are pure speculation, of course. That also gets me thinking, before the prequels an even more phoenix-like version of the Rebels' emblem was used as the old Republic's emblem (seen on some pictures of Dreadnaughts). But the old emblem could be retcon'd as as being the heraldic emblem of a Jedi General's forces much like those used by Anakin and Obi-Wan's forces.

Here's the story in regards to the symbol of the Republic and the Empire from the ICS. (I thought I recalled seeing before)
"The starboard wing of Obi-Wan's craft is marked with a symbol of a disc with eight spokes. This ancient icon dates to the Bendu monks' study of numerology wherein the number nine (eight spokes joined to one disc) signifies the beneficent presence of the Force in a unitary galaxy. After the fall of the Galactic Republic 1,000 generations later, the Emperor will personalize this symbol by defacing the icon with the removal of two spokes."
Hope this helps some.

Bah, that's not very accurate. Let me use my Google-fu and Photoshop-do and whip something up...
EDIT: Here we go:
Please excuse the text on the Jedi Order thing. I didn't want to work on it for so long with skills that I'm not very good at removing it.
I'd call it a general match, and both even link to the arrow/cog herald on the Chancellor's podium in the Senate...

fun/fantasy movies existed before the overrated Star Wars came out. What made it seem 'less dark' was the sheer goofy aspect of it: two robots modeled on Laurel & Hardy, and a smartass outlaw with bigfoot co-pilot and their hotrod pizza-shaped ship, and they were sucked aboard a giant Disco Ball. -adw1
Someone asked me yesterday if Dracula met Saruman and there was a fight, who would win. I just looked at this man. What an idiotic thing to say. I mean really, it was half-witted. - Christopher Lee
