From the straight code changes announced, Da Boyz are now intelligently put together. How I will enjoy getting to play this.
In the meantime, I will content myself with the Steel Legion mod, until I either find enough money to spare for a game, or until a Get Winter Assault So We Can Kick Nitram's Ass fund is whipped around.

Problem: Getting to that tier is a pain in the ass. What's with all the races suddenly having a horrendously expensive and time-consuming upgrade even after they reach third tier to access their heavy armor, anyway?Matt Huang wrote:if not raiding unguarded points, you should probably be using Russies instead.Shinova wrote:Also, Sentinels, if not raiding points, should stay in the back of any force and have plenty of meatshields up front.

I would assume it's to keep the game up-close-and-personal longer, which is after all the focus of DoW. I remember quite a few games where it would drag out for a long time and there'd be nearly 10 superunits on each side produced throughout the course of the game.
Incidentally, I got to play today after watching my friend get whipped twice in a row by standard comps. He challenged me to play, and I promptly creamed the comp with no prior DoW IG experience (I maintain that 6-7 years of TT Guard makes up the difference ).

He got his ass kicked by standard comps? With the Guard? Was he stoned or something?

Indeed. They attack constantly with everything they have, even on standard.Shinova wrote:Actually the AI's been given a SEVERE buff. Try playing against them. They're a lot more aggressive now.Rogue 9 wrote:He got his ass kicked by standard comps? With the Guard? Was he stoned or something?

Every time I try to install WA, it patches DoW up to 1.4, starts the install thingy and then promptly asks me to install DoW before closing.
Three times now. Each with a new, clean install of DoW. Please, can someone tell me what the fuck is going on before I smash the disks and weep quietly into my pillow? (long week -.-)

It still does incredibly stupid shit. One Chaos computer in a 3v1 game was so incompetent it lost something like 300 units to kill one.Shinova wrote:Actually the AI's been given a SEVERE buff. I did. Kicked it's ass too. How effective the AI is depends on the map, I've noticed.Shinova wrote:Hmmm, then go play Insane.

Disregard the previous, I checked the Relic forums. Hopefully, this'll work now.

That's the thread.
It appears to be installing, so that's good. I hope I didn't bugger my DoW when erasing my attempted maual install.

yeah. I've played one map where an AI guard had everything nice and maxed out. They even had their baneblade out and running. Only problem was that their mars pattern was at the ass-end of their base and trapped by every other building they had made, so their baneblade was little more than a very expensive turret.Rogue 9 wrote:I did. Guess how happy my force-commander was to drop an orbital bombardment on the baneblade?

It would be more humiliating to just slowly pound it to death with Basilisks. Or Whirlwinds in your case, I suppose. Of course, you can't humiliate a comp. But against a human player, he could scuttle a couple buildings and get it out.Matt Huang wrote:yeah. I've played one map where an AI guard had everything nice and maxed out. Oooh crap. Was just browsing Relic's site and found some nasty spoils (if in some really nice screenies).

true, but how many force-commanders can say that they took on a Baneblade and won?

the movie of the Chaplin vs. the bloodletter, reminded me of some of my redneck friends.
Well let's see if Brother Mephistron can hold on for the entire eight seconds, no black rage seems to have kicked in, and he had the flashbacks to when his primarch nutted the DP of khorne's bloodthirsters

Plenty, for as soon as some of these silly bugs are fixed, the Brother-Captain will have his thunder hammer back in working order, which of course stuns vehicles. I've tested it on Predators and I can only assume it extends to the Baneblade.true, but how many force-commanders can say that they took on a Baneblade and won?
