Yea seriously.. Its not like the Merzo fanbase is as huge or active as here.. (I should know) He doesn't have as many other resources to help with... Just lots of Real Life work to distract him, poor guy.

I don't have a great deal of respect for him, since he runs a website about starship dimensions, and any idiot could see that this would bring down the wrath of drooling fanboys. He tries to avoid controversy, and has a forum full of some of the stupidest, most illogical arguments ever, and yet his whole site is basically a big sign saying 'come wank out your series here'.

Yes, but he used to have it at 17.6 km, did he not? Just haul out the old model and put it back.Luzifer's right hand wrote:That guy has other tings to do, like working...Spanky The Dolphin wrote:That coward hasn't updated since April...Ender wrote:And of course, to counter this, SW:TUVG says the Death Star is 120 km and fusion powered.
But whatever, think its time we all started dropping the Starship Modeler guy a line.

The Saxonites have taken over!Rogue 9 wrote:Don't know when it happened, nor if there's already a thread about it. I looked and didn't see anything on the first two pages. Anyhow, the official site databank has set the length of the Executor class at 19,000 meters. Rejoice, ye Warsies!
And yes, I know.
fun/fantasy movies existed before the overrated Star Wars came out. What made it seem 'less dark' was the sheer goofy aspect of it: two robots modeled on Laurel & Hardy, and a smartass outlaw with bigfoot co-pilot and their hotrod pizza-shaped ship, and they were sucked aboard a giant Disco Ball. -adw1

I think that it's pretty much agreed upon that the Eclipse is shorter than the Executor but is bigger overall. If you look at the pictures, Eclipse is considerably thicker than Executor and is thus much more massive.UCBooties wrote:ok, someone with a copy of DE handy, if the SSD is 19 KM, what's the Eclipse measure? It sure as hell isn't the 10 KM from the old Complete Guide to Weapons and Vehicles.

I got the impression that he agreed with the "old correct" sizes, and he simply bowed to pressure from "official guidebook thumpers" for the revised ones.Crossroads Inc. wrote:Yea seriously.. Hopefully when word gets out he'll update them. If nothing else y'all can go yell at him, I mean politely show him they've been updated. In the end he agrees with them anyway!
I'm sure if you ran a site devoted to lots of sci fi and all the fans of one of those sci fi's yelled at you to "change this to the correct stuff" you'd feel pressure to do so. Star Wars fans can be an aggressive, angry lot, after all.

He supports the true sizes completely and even includes links to SWTC to back up his position, but simply caved in from getting bombarded by e-mails clamouring that he was wrong.
And in regards to your last point, I personally have never responded to that kind of peer-pressure bullshit. My reaction woud be to ignore them and/or tell them to fuck off.

I believe that, especially the latter part.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:And in regards to your last point, I personally have never responded to that kind of peer-pressure bullshit. My reaction woud be to ignore them and/or tell them to fuck off.
But many webmasters are out there to be popular with their percieved target audience, or at least amicable...

I do know he plans on updating soon, I'm sure I can talk to him, or at least his wife who runs the forums. And you are right about the 'peer pressure' thing. Really, size aside, you have to give him credit for the sheer index he has amassed. The ability to actually move the images around and compare them as well as the 'Zoom' features are something to appreciate.Kurgan wrote:I got the impression that he agreed with the "old correct" sizes, and he simply bowed to pressure from "official guidebook thumpers" for the revised ones.Crossroads Inc. wrote:Yea seriously.. That means it's as long as 28 Enterprise-E's laid out end to end.Rogue 9 wrote:Anyhow, the official site databank has set the length of the Executor class at 19,000 meters. Rejoice, ye Warsies!

I've been taking part in the capital ships thread at TFN, and most people seem to be smart enough to accept it (the place seems to have gotten better lately). Thrawn McDumbass is still trying to argue that visuals can't be trusted and that you should go with what's consistently shown in most EU sources though.Mange the Swede wrote:No reaction from the TFN crowd?
I checked that thread, and according to McEwok (Arkady Hodge), the films only gives an impression of her vast size... Why am I not surprised...Jim Raynor wrote:I've been taking part in the capital ships thread at TFN, and most people seem to be smart enough to accept it (the place seems to have gotten better lately). Great. I was resisting the notion that this guy is an "ass" just because he didn't have the "correct" sizes all this time. Now if he were to refuse to change it, I'd suspect he was doing so to suck up to his current audience and then you could all tar and feather him.Crossroads Inc. wrote:I do know he plans on updating soon, I'm sure I can talk to him, or at least his wife who runs the forums. The proportions of the bridge towers on his ISD and SSD are quite different. He might need new drawings, especially because if you scale up his SSD drawing to 19 km long, the tower becomes noticably bigger than the ISD tower. Anyone looking closely will notice that the towers look quite different regardless of size, but not everyone looks closely before jumping to conclusions.

Sure. I'll tell George all about it during our weekly buisness meeting.Star Wars Fan wrote:
oh yes, can some of you get them to re-name it "Executor-class Star Commandship" or "Executor-class Star Dreadnought.
