Ugh How dense are these assholes?!

I respond to Bonnie saying that LFL cares about science in my way too nice way:
I wrote:I assure you -- as a LFL staff member -- that both we and our authors take scientific or logical continuity seriously

I apologize if I'm only fanning the fire, but isn't this very blog we are commenting on saying that science and logic aren't part of the mythical world (which would include Star Wars)? Whether this is the view of LFL or not is irrelevant, I think. Mr. Kaufman's point of view is clear. Again, I'm not trying to be insulting, but that part of your post seems contradictory with the blog.
Kaufman responds with this crap:
RK wrote:No, it's not contradictory. We do take continuity very seriously. LFL's commitment is obvious-- my bookshelves are filled with examples.

I too take continuity very seriously. I spent a whole year defending and preserving it as Continuity Supervisor at LucasArts.

As I've said before, continuity is wonderful. It enriches the GFFA.

But holy wars over numbers and details distract from the big issues of Star Wars-- the things it can teach us about life and ourselves.

Yoda said "Luminous beings are we. Not this crude matter." It ain't about the body, it's about the soul.
Where did I, or Bonnie for that matter, say anything about continuity? (although it's pretty clear he doesn't have a real grast on that concept either.) I spoke of science and logic, not continuity. What an arse.

Continuity Supervisor at LucasArts
So... what, did they just completely ignore everything he said then, or did he do a really shitty job. Because LucasArts is worse then DHC at continuity, and that says a lot.

Ask why he spent so much work on a detailed article about the GAR, going into depth about numbers of divisions, regiments, battalions, companies and so on, if numbers "don't matter, if it is just "fantasy".

Or why we should pay for such an article, if its contents don't matter.

Oh, whatever!! First he was crying out "It's only fantasy!! It's only a movie!!" then he spouts out this crap?

Here's a comment I left on Hidalgo's snarky assed blog. I wonder how long it will last?
It's fun and all, but George can back the Subaru out at any moment and crush what you've done.

That's fine if Lucas does it. Its the parking valets who rummage through his car's ashtray for loose change that have to be watched. Many get delusions of grandeur and try to hop in the driver's seat, and change the stations on the radio to what they want to hear.

He'll only use that same quote against Saxton and you know it. :x

If it stays up.

I lament not being home for this LFL cluster-fuck- and resent even more that I can't post on VIP blogs coz I'm not a hyperspace member. Anyway, what needed to be said has been said- as always, they publish bullshit, and when called on it, retreat to their pussy-ass "it's all a myth" catch-all excuse to cover up for their incompetence and bullfuckery. Seriously, I'm getting beyond tolerance for this hypocrisy.

Don't you love the way this asshole tries to pretend that fans who point out discrepancies between George Lucas' "Star Wars" and Pablo Hidalgo's "Star Wars" are hijacking the vehicle rather than trying to subdue the real hijacker?

In that case. one might point out that SWTC only does analysis of existing work. The only creative work Saxton's done for Star Wars, he was paid for.

Not that Hidalgo would care, becuse logic apparently means nothing to him.

So Kaufman essentially admits to being an anti-science moron prefering philosophy.

Where is that pic of the philosophy major working at McDonnalds?

Rayn_Kaufman came back to the TFN-discussion:

Not much of value, but he is either still looking or somebody kept him updated:

FTeik, burc'ya, if you're going to slag us off, at least spell our names correctly.

Kaufman with one n, and Traviss with two 's'.

Talk about not getting the details right.

Thank you for still being here.

Also thank you for spelling my name correctly (most people write it FTiek or Ftiek).

About attention to details, don't you think that there is a slight difference between missing a single letter in a name and the ignorance of previously established material (ITW:AOTC, ROTS:ICS, a whole bunch of comics, cartoons, the films themself)?

I've read your blog on sw.com about numbers and myths and i have to wonder: how can you talk this way about your own work?

You obviously put so much effort and thought (aside from the little detail we're discussing here the entire time) and then you basically tell us "it doesn't matter"?

Well, it seems I have been blacklisted from Karren Traviss' blogs, and now Dark Moose has a personal vendetta against me. I swear, if there was a way I could take the pompous, moronic, overblown syncophant down with me, I would seriously consider getting myself banned.
Rarely have I ever been so pissed off. :x

So, in the end, Star Wars has been hijacked by idiot fanboys, just like Star Trek? It's a shame... it's odd that TPTB don't mind Pablo being a parochial moron or books being full of clearly incorrect numbers. Since most SW fans are clearly line-towing idiots, how long until the entire EU (never so hot to begin with) is all garbage of this nature?

It's odd that after a few excellent, technical, well-researched books, they go back to pulp nonsense like this.

RK is acting like a little bitch. I was honestly about to write a more than slightly negative post back to him, but considering what a bunch of cocksucking asshats they have running around over there, it would have probably resulted in me being banned. So I decided to just STFU about it. It's a shame though. As Stark said, after the release of the DK books, I thought things were on an upswing. It appears my hopes were unfounded.

Something like that. :P
I've posted my own blog on the subject, and now I'm going to try and shut up about it there. As apocolypse says, it wouldn't be too hard to get banned there right now, and even if it is run by pocket dictators and syncophants, there are parts of it I'd rather not be barred from.

Edit: And not suprisingly, Dark Moose blocked my blog and berrated me about it within nine minutes of posting.

I've thrown together a blog of questions regarding the whole "it's fantasy is doesn't matter" crap.

6) If Star Wars is a fantasy and such things as continuity and realism don't matter, why have EU in the first place? If we are meant to see only a philosophical message, we shouldn't need it to be expanded on, all it can do is create confusion. If nothing but philosophy matters, why bother?

Dark Moose wrote:And by the way - this statement - "Those who engage in such pursuits are silly and wasting their talent."

If you think I said that, you've misquoted it rather badly. I assume you are quoting someone else. My opinion was that the debate was silly. I can have opinions. I can comment on concepts. I don't, and haven't, called a person "silly." I have, however, said the approach was. Again, I assume that since that statement would be rather badly inaccurate if it referred to me, that it's actually not about me.
Moose, whats the difference? If you say people are engaging in a "silly" activity then is that not saying they are wasting their time?

The fact that HE reacts to this even though Nex mentioned no names proves that he knows he's guilty.

Dark Moose banned me at the drop of a hat after I accused him of misquoting me (with evidence, I might add). He's not above using the ban function in an effort to remove people who he doesn't like.

THAT is the funniest thing I have seen all day. After he IP banned me for accusing him of misquoting me, now HE's the one who's on the damaged side of an alleged misquote. UTTERLY fantastic.

Keep up the good work, guys.
