Laptop Problem

Ok my laptop decided to stop working. When the system tries to start up the xindows XP loggo comes on and the and cannot get passed that. When I try to boot in safe mode I get an error message the the system is possible corrupted. I set the system to boot from CD-ROM to reinstall the operating system. After I reset my BIOS to load from CD-ROM I get a message the operating system not found. So if I can't reload operating system from my CD which is slightly broke I think what should I try next.

Ok the error meesage received was Bad Image Checksum
the image url.dll is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum.
