create a new .txt file, copy the numbers in, then rename it so that it's extension is .dna

to start a competition, load up Darwin Pool, start a garden of eden map, select double, then immediately pause and delete all the random swimmers. Place a competitor in one of the circles, then clone him however times you deem necessary. Repeat with the other competitor and the other circle.

Then watch :-D

The attempt to interbreed MR and OM ended in a surfeit of freaks and mutants, which I exterminated out of mercy. Sigh. Back to the drawing pond.

On a related note, I pitted BD against MR, the hybrid with the tweaked movement and turning genes. As expected, MR quickly devoured everything, then started dying. Blue Devil stayed in it's circle and bred as MR died. Eventually though, MR found Blue Devil's food circle and ate it all :(

That's why I like the Yellow Bastards. They're better at swarming than the MR, so when they came to the YB's circle, they couldn't get any food. It was kinda cool, seeing the whole map full of blue, with a huge chunk of Yellow in the middle of it.

Then the YB's food ran out, and they starved. Lasted 50k turns agains the MR, though. And the lst yellow dude died at 66k clicks.

Have a very nice day.

That's just not fair.

in the match of Red Hookers versus Blue Underdogs, the Red Hookers won.

My Blue Underdogs quickly finished it's circle of food and then proceeded to spread out. At this time, I had a big pop advantage. While spreading out, the Underdogs found the Hooker's circle of food, and "helped' them eat it.

But then something happened. Due to the spreading out to find more food, my Underdogs started dying out. This gave the Hooker's room to grow. Suddenly, the Hooker's had a large lead. They kept it too. I didn't let it go to the very end, but I could tell the Underdogs were going to be beat.

Next up, Blue Kangaroos.

Same damn thing against the Blue Kangaroos. I had a pop advantage of 3:1, and suddenly, as soon as the Underdogs spread out for food, the Kangaroos caught up and then surpassed my them. The Underdogs never made it back.

Blue devils has won against blue underdogs and lost to red hookers.

The blue underdog's population graph resembled Half-dome at yosemite, in case anyone was wondering.

edit: has anyone figured out what the sliders on the gen-engineering panel modify? specifically the three movement and turning sliders.

Breeding the MAster Race with my Little Blue Dudes resulted in a rather odd little creature which seemed to be completely incapable of turning.

Placing five of them in an Eden pond resulted in them eating some food in front of them, and then swimming straight out, trying desperately to turn towards one of the others to mate but never managing to turn more than a few degrees.

Eventually they starved from going so far out. It was quite funny, really.

After spending 100k turns breeding a 4-lgger species, I have come up with this.

0.869115
0.623596
0.255560
0.629509
0.000000
0.069702

0.061890
0.853976
0.622284
0.620485
0.000000

These guys were desperately trying to keep up with a species of two-leggers that looked like Prawn's, but were losing, badly.

Have a very nice day.

My two-legger appears to be nothing but Squiddy with two legs removed. I figure that during the session in which they appeared, a Squiddy must have mutated that way, and the offspring took over. My currently running 4-legger program is a colors map. In each circle I have several rows of ChristmasNinja, Swastika, and the Reach swimmer that comes with the game. Arranged thusly:

CSR
RCS
SRC

All in the first circle were made red, the second yellow, and the third blue.

I have discovered the race with one of the most inefficient methods of propulsion I have ever seen. Look at it and weep.

I dub thee Crappy McFourlegs:

0.926544
0.713318
0.534729
0.710419
0.690826
0.305084
0.746796
0.215607
0.958069
0.191681
0.884735
0.793396
0.373871
0.630035
0.429932
0.049957

The saddest thing is that they're the dominant race in the pond I'm currently running, although I expect that to change when the food in the center circle runs out.

My guess, the winner will be a race of 3-leggers which swim backwards using one leg for propulstiion, and the other 2 for steering. Let's see if they evolve into something that can survive outside the feeding circle.

Have a very nice day.

I was running a pond earlier full of randoms. Left it running for a while, and a dominent race emerged. I have dubbed them "Riddicks" because when I first saw them, the Chronicles of Riddick was on tv. Their movements are similar to the Underdogs, but isn't so "spasmadic." They're also a bit slower.

I put them in a empty double GoE against my own Blue Underdogs. The Underdogs did their usual thing of getting a massive pop advantage, then when spreading out, losing it. The Riddick's eventually won.

I then put up against Fgalkin's Blue Kangaroos. The Riddicks got out to a good lead with a 3:1 pop, just like my Underdogs had done before. But unlike my Underdogs, they kept it.

The Match went on for about 130000 thousand ticks before I ended it. At about 110000, the Kangaroos had taken a lead, but eventually lost it to the Riddick's.

Right now, I'm putting them up against the Yellow Bastards. At 10500 ticks, the YB's have a lead. It's a minor one though, and the Riddick's are slowly catching up.

EDIT: It's at 150000 ticks already. Both swimmers are still fighting for it. At one point, the graph shows the Riddicks were on the brink of extinction, with only a small group left. But I guess a famine happened, and the Yellow Bastards took it hard. Now both races are making a comeback, though the YB's are leading with a 150 pop advantage. I honestly don't know how it's going to turn out.

I decided to tinker with MRDOD's Purple Race. I managed to correct that awful momentum-killing forward stroke. In a head-to-head matchup, my improved version drove the originals into extinction at the 28k mark.

The only problem is that they have a bit of a hard time turning, and sometimes end up "orbiting" each other when trying to mate. Hence they initially increased their population much more slowly than the originals. Efficiency won the day, however, after the originals ate their food circle and starved in droves trying to spread out.

If we can fix their turning ability while keeping the more efficient stroke, we could have something good on our hands.

Creation is for suckers. Let something evolve, then tweak it a little. I don't consider anything worth looking at unless it completely dominates the pond it originates in. Something else you might do is clip a couple specimens out of this thread, throw them into a food pile with your guys, edit them to all the same color so they interbreed, then let the whole thing run for twenty or thirty minutes.

You guys hooked me on this. Dammit.

So, last night I was playing around on my second GoE game, having twinked a few interesting 4-leggers and given them a little circle of food for their very own, and then I get called away from the computer.

I don't return to it until this morning. There were nothing left but little one-limbed orange guys racing around the pond to find food as it spawned. I have saved one of the fastest and named it Survivor. I might post the stats later after I figure out how.

But this gave me an idea. Thus, this morning at 7:30am, I started a new GoE Colour battle, with a couple of twists. Since I've noticed a few brave souls adventure out from the gardens early, I made two lines of food north and south of the gardens. Then, two randomly picked specimens of each colour were gifted by their Goddess with a random mutation, for good or ill.

I can't wait to see what's turned out. So far the one-legged sperms seem to be the most resilient.
