Size matters not

Post by FOG3 »

In previous discussions of such things I seem to recall that the attitude towards this statement was more dismissive.

It recently occured to me that if the Force user is effectively just manipulating the Force to effectively magic up a force field on one object, that size doesn't matter. Afterall Yoda makes a point that the Force flows through all things, even the ship. As it would be a body force and operate per unit of something along the lines of mass like gravity, the actual size of the object being lifted isn't a issue. What would be a issue is how fast they want the object to move and how dense it is to a proverbial "Force density." So of course, hurling a fleet of multiple Star Destroyers FTL is going to be a serious strain due to the number of objects involved, and the force involved in doing the FTL thing, but do a repulsor effect on one might not be a big deal.

What do people think?

If you think about the prophecy from PM. It's about balancing the force. Now it could mean the force is constantly trying to balance itself out. Every time someone uses the force he has to get it from somewhere, sort of like loaning it. There has been some mentions of the force being a limited recource, too many people using it at the same time and individual effects get weaker.
During the old republic there where thousands of jedis around, all tapping into the force. Force is balanced when the jedi are gone.

In a nutshell, the force is trying to maintain status quo, and the jedi/sith try to break it. The more powerful user is, the longer he can keep pulling on the force to suit his purposes. Eventually the user is exhausted and cannot keep pulling.

Yeah. I just came up with this.

But if life creates it, couldn't you increase the "force pool" by say, terraforming planets and seeding them with life, or encouraging rapid population growth?

Perhaps the issue is that in the Force Pool the Sith are simply taking more than their fair share, leaving less for the Jedi...
fun/fantasy movies existed before the overrated Star Wars came out. What made it seem 'less dark' was the sheer goofy aspect of it: two robots modeled on Laurel & Hardy, and a smartass outlaw with bigfoot co-pilot and their hotrod pizza-shaped ship, and they were sucked aboard a giant Disco Ball. -adw1
Someone asked me yesterday if Dracula met Saruman and there was a fight, who would win. I just looked at this man. What an idiotic thing to say. I mean really, it was half-witted. - Christopher Lee
