A quotation of the above post:
You Lose

It was only a matter of time until a mod team took Jack Thompson's disgusting revenge fantasy and made it flesh - and, just as I suggested, it was deemed insufficient.

Thompson now claims that his repellent suggestion was "satire," and we must conclude that his financial offer was also satire, some new breed of satire apparently that I'm sure is just hilarious to people in need.

You know what, Jack? We're going to be the men you're not. You said that your insulting, illusory ten thousand dollars would go to the charity of Paul Eibler's choice. We've got a good guess that he'd direct your nonexistant largesse toward The Entertainment Software Association Foundation, a body that has raised over six point seven million dollars over the last eight years. We've just made the donation you never would, and never meant to. Ten thousand dollars' worth. And we made it in your name.
I can't wait to see Jack's reply.

That's hilarious.

I think Jack Thompson has been pretending to be a professional and a human being far too long; I can't wait to see him deteriorate into some kind of jibbering, defeated mollusk and dissappear.

Hopefully after loosing any real support, and after refusing to give $10k to charity, this will be the last we really hear from him in a long time.

Wait, he actually came up with that idea? When I saw it I thought it was an Onion-style parody!

Can't he be sued for the 10 grand? It would take a lawyer to do it, since it wouldn't be worth it for anyone else after the lawyers' fees.

So much for that little shit. I suspect he'll have a hell of a time recovering from this emasculating display.

Is the game any good, does it follow the plotline he outlined? If it doesn't maybe it's not eligible for the 10k "reward". I read a blog entry that says the game doesn't exactly follow the plotline, and when I try and download it the link is broken.

I don't see the difficulty in making the game though, there's tons of game modders out there who do it for free.

<edit>It turns out the link wasn't broken, the connection was refused because there were too many people downloading it! I imagine every gamer in the world is taking a peek at it.</edit>

It's not even a matter if the game meets the plotline exactly or if it doesn't. Thompson flat-out admitted to lying about donating the money in the first place, regardless of whether his demands were met or not. This alone makes him a worthless pile of dog shit stamped into a suit.

I'll bet that this hasn't even phased him. He'll just ignore it while he moves onto his next point of attack at the industry.

Believe it or not, public image means a lot in this sort of campaign. He's just been shown to be the kind of person who withholds charity money after pledging it. Gamers have been shown as the sort who will not only do what is asked of them to make money go to charity, but will PICK UP THE SLACK when he fails to come through.

This is not the sort of man people are going to rally around as much anymore. Organizations with similar goals have distanced themselves from him, the average person sees him as a liar, and a good public image (fighting against the evils of the gaming industry) was his strongest point. That's gone now, pretty much entirely. His legal cases, as far as I can tell, are pretty much full of shit. Without popular public support, he's dead in the water.

He can keep thrashing, but he'll never make it to shore.

Can they actually sue him for not doing what he promised in an email? It's not exactly a signed contract.

I thought you might like to see the mail I got from Jack this afternoon:

This story is completely false and defamatory. Take it down or else.

And my reply to him:

****This is an automated response****

Thank you for contacting Penny Arcade. I’m sorry but I am simply not able to respond to all my fan mail. I want you to know that I’m glad you enjoy the comic strip and I appreciate you taking the time to mail me.

Holy cow that is inspiring. I hope CNN runs a big article about "computer gamers make $10,000 donation promised by Thompson". They probably won't, but what happened, is incredible.

Although the $10K donation was specified as going towards the charity of Take Two Interactive's CEO's choice, IIRC, for some reason.
