How far does Star Wars go back?
is there anything EU wise that talks about what happens before KOTOR, like when hyperspace was first introduced? or even before that?

Well there is quite a lot of comics dealing with the centuries/years before KOTOR such as "The golden age of the sith" "The sith war", that deal with the war between the republic and the sith empire.
The only discussion of the time before that is the characters mentioning how the Sith left the republic at it's very beggining.

Not the Sith species, but their was a great schism within the Jedi of the Republic, and the practitioners of the dark side who were still alive after their defeat fled known space and ended up becoming the Lords of the Sith.Dark Primus wrote:Left the Republic? Not entirely true. While not first hand accounts, the period before the forming of the OR (25,000 BBY) is noted in some detail, mainly in relation to the Rakatan Empire, Xin the Despot, and the Hutts.DEATH wrote:Well there is quite a lot of comics dealing with the centuries/years before KOTOR such as "The golden age of the sith" "The sith war", that deal with the war between the republic and the sith empire.

There are references that the original incarnation of the Sharu existed about three billion years ago.
And Blackjack, the Hyperspace Aliens are still in the category of fan theory, and the latest citations we have of their possible existance is a million years ago, which is when the Corellian System was created.
The Killik also left their native Alderaan a million years ago.
I would seriously recommend Time Tales at TFN for citations concerning this stuff, since it's all pretty concrete.
The earliest reference we have to a contemporary species developing space travel is the Columi about two million years ago, but they soon became isolate. The earliest reference to a contemporary and social species developing interstellar travel is the Devaronians about five-hundred-thousand years ago, which also gives a good estimate at the current tech level of the Galaxy: half a million years ahead.
500,000 years ago is also the earliest date which records of galactic civilisations becomes translatable, although such records that were untranslatable date back a million years.
The height of the Gree Enclave was 300,000 years ago.
Humans seem to have thouroughly colonised the Core about 100,000 years ago, as that is when Galactic City on Coruscant covers the planetary surface entirely.
