I can handle music from the 70's better than the "hair bands" of the 80's and even the early 90's. That was the era I grew up in when I was in high school. I just throw AC/DC in there because they were one of the big groups in my youth.

By the way, you can feel free to like that music if you want. Not everyone will like the music you do, and I wouldn't get upset if you said the same about Tribal Tech, Fourplay, or the Flecktones.

That one single soundbyte of little kids laughing that everyone and their brother uses. I swear, if there is a scene in any TV show, commercial, movie, or whatever that calls for a shot of a bunch of little kids playing, it will use that EXACT SAME FRICKIN' SOUNDBYTE, no questions asked.

I actually kinda liked the first one (the one where the boss goes to fire Johnson, but Johnson's under his desk for some reason, so the boss thinks he's gone and starts doing a little dance), but the subsequent ones were irritating.

Or the sound of a squeaky locker/door/gate/window being opened. Exactly the same damn sound every damn time.

Those Goddamn natural male enhancement commercials. God damn it I hate those friggin things so much. Mostly because of the music itself. That stupid 50's whistiling and acting just gets my fur up. They play it so much on Spike during like Trek reruns or something that I just want to run over my TV with my car.

I do mute, but often times I'm not quick enough.

As for the AIM sound comment, I can't stand any of AOLs canned sounds and generally replace them. But I do still have trouble on occasion (though not often) when someone is watching an ep of B5 and the doorbell rings.

"Is someone online? Am I online? Who the hell is IMing me?" And then I remember.

I was thinking the thread was intended to have people say what sounds they hate to hear on TV, and then try figuring out what makes those sounds so annoying to hear, which might have a place in SLAM, but without the latter part, it belongs in OT, and that's the way the thread's turning out.

I'll have to make an alteration to your list Ein.

The ungodly tone-range should ONLY be allowed by TV and radio stations, and ONLY when FEMA/EBS needs to commendeer your attention. Like the EBS intended it to be.
