For possible fanfic writing...
Assuming that the ability to alter a wireless signal (from a laptop)'s range to reduce or increase its "drawing" on the battery, would there be anything wrong with roughly analogy to someone wearing a portable energy-field (effect-nulling) generator with its area of effect limited to his immediate self to maximize battery life?
