Bible, Inspired by God, Why?

Bible, Inspired by God, Why?
That is something I have never tried.
Someone tells you that the Bible is inspired by God and you ask "Why?", what kind of answer will you get?

They're probably respond with "IT JUST IS!" It's one of the assumptions innate in their position, much like the assumption that what can be observed and known is all that does exist is innate in your position.
The trouble with this assumption is that combined with the fact that reality doesn't contradict itself (can't, really), God is either a liar, or the assumption doesn't work.

So long, and thanks for all the fish
The Bible states itself that it is, if you are willing to ignore the circular logic of that.

If the answre is "It is written in the bible",
how about the response "Doesn't the Koran say the teh same thing?"
How would they respond to that?

With more circular logic of course. Chances are it'd go like so:Kitsune wrote:If the answre is "It is written in the bible",

"Doesn't the Koran say the same thing?"
"But the Koran's filled with lies!"
"Why?"
"Because the Bible says that all other religions are false."

"Because God wanted us to know He loved us so much He created the world for us, only we sinned, so He had to send His Son to die for us. But you can only get into Heaven if you believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Who came to Earth to die for us and take our sins upon His Shoulders."Kitsune wrote:"Why?"
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.
F. Douglass
They would provide humungous quotes to somebody who has "done research" into the Bible and finds out that it must be true because... etc.etc.etc. They might refer to the "mathematic perfection" of the Bible or the fact that there is so much "evidence" for everything within the Bible.Kitsune wrote:If the answre is "It is written in the bible",

I like the way fundies go from "the Bible was inspired by God" straight to "every single word in the Bible was personally approved by God before being committed to paper." Yes, they actually do this; as far as they're concerned, the former proves the latter. Point out that it's a non-sequitur and they just ignore you.
