Battlefront 2?

Post by Manus Celer Dei »

So, I saw Star Wars: Battlefront 2 in Gamestation today, which was a bit of a suprise, since I didn't think it came out until sometime in november.

Has anyone played it? Any good?

Weird, I thought it was November 1st (tomorrow).

Was it on the shelf? (I've seen at GameStop that they'll actually receive them they day before but not put them on the shelf until the day after)

I've got it on pre-order.

They called me to tell me it was in yesterday though.

I played it in the store today, Mygeeto and over Coruscant. I like the new Clone Commander with the machine gun and the starfighter controls have improved DRASTICALLY over the last game.

It's nice but the AI-troopers still have the IQ of a shoe

Edit:but the hero-class is really cool.

plays like battlefront 1, only smoother.

What's offline play like? The first one got really old really quickly if you didn't have inline play, which was what put be off.

offline campaign is pretty sweet. some RPG elements to it, you can earn medals over the course of a campaign, but in Battlefront 2, those medals actually do something.

You have to get 5 of a medal to enable the associated bonus. After that, the more medals you have, the lower the activation requirement is for that medal.

My personal favorite right now is the flechette gun for the engineer class. Boosts your damage pretty nicely. I suppose I'll try to get the rifle bonus, extra damage and 3-round bursts for the soldier class seems good.

Got it on Saturday. Never played BF1, so can't compare them. All I will say is that thus far, the Rebels and the CIS have yet to get a look-in.
For the Chancellor/Emperor! (delete as applicable)

I'm liking the Clone Commander and the Dark Troopers so far and offline play seems amusing enough. Plus, I've answered the immortal question:
Who wins? Leia as of ANH or General Grevious?
According to wikipedia, "the Mohorovičić discontinuity is the boundary between the Earth's crust and the mantle."
According to Starbound, it's a problem solvable with enough combat drugs to turn you into the Incredible Hulk.

Got it yesterday, just finished the space battle over Kashyyyk. I hate the space flying because of the whole 3-d aspect. I need a horizon to refer to. Consequently, I'm a shitty pilot. Oh well.

One thing I've noticed is that The game LOOKS good graphically, but it doesn't chunk out nearly as much as, say, BF2, even on high vid settings. Kudos to Pandemic. Lessee...

Gripes? Sound. the sound is like...undersaturated. It sounds like you're listening to shit that's really far away. even explosions really close to me are really far away. Maybe it's just me.

Overall, I'm enjoying single player, and will play through it all the way, just in case it unlocks something in Multiplayer. We shall see! I sure hope we get a trench run in this one. sheesh.

Man, I do like the 501th Campaign. Too bad u cant load and play the missions after you completed them. Space Combat rocks.

But if I get my hands on the guy who put the ISD Hangar on the rear of the ship or the guy who turned the VSD into "victory class star frigate", things WILL get ugly (if you cant stand insults)

Overall, how does single player stand up to the first Battlefront? I'd certainly like to know, as I'm...obtaining it now.

Battlefront 1's single player was like cocktail weenies, decent but unfilling.

Battlefront 2 is like a fully loaded hot dog fresh off your grill.

It's single player campaign is much more linear than BF 1's, and each missions starts and ends with a video log from the 501's trooper you play as.

Excellent. Is a lot of flying involved? I particularly liked flying TIE fighters in the first, even when I was on the opposite team (I'd have to make mad dashes toward parked fighters while under heavy fire at times).

there's several flying missions. You can skip them, but they're worth playing, even if it takes a while to get the hang of it.

This game is fucking kickass, but I cannot play for more than 15 minutes before it simply dumps me to the desktop, and then I have to restart my computer to get it to load up again. What the fuck is going on? :banghead:

I'm having such issues as well, though only during the flight missions so far.

Now I crashed/froze at the end of a rather long ground combat mission. Time to wait for a patch.

I haven't had any instabilities.

What version are you running? DVD-Rom or CD-Rom?
