Next to an Avatar of Khaine. >_< The fact that the pod containing the Dreadnought was supposed to go there, with the Marines landing further back didn't help either; they switched places or I clicked the buttons in the wrong order or something. The entire rocket launcher squad basically died on impact, and four of the flamer squad followed. Then the game ended because I'd neglected to go take those critical locations back. Not that I wasn't about to get totally overrun anyway.

Assault Marines are great for holding ImpGuard's nose while the regular Space Marines kick them in the ass.
Really? As of WA, I have found they are pretty damned good at dying in mass droves, but little else. In hand-to-hand, mind you. Against Guardsmen.

When I used them, I was generally also having the Space Marines attacking at the same time. The biggest contribution of the AMs was that they got the Guardsmen to stop fucking lobbing grenades.

Against Guardsmen, but not Howling Banshees, which is what I kept pitting mine against last game. They consistently came out on top, although once the squad was reduced down to the Sergeant. Mind you, that was because a Wraithlord decided to show up when I had my attention elsewhere bringing up some Dreadnoughts. So I jumped him out.

And discovered that Space Marine sergeants really got an HP boost in the expansion. That sergeant's HP almost matched the Chaplain's.

Yeah. Our second game was quite close today. We played Deadman's Crossing map, and I held at my base. His units pressed ahead...

My grenades were tying up his heavy bolters reasonably well, until those damned assault troops jumped in. Thank Valen they landed on minefields and were cut up by turrets.

But one thing I never expected was the incredible effectiveness of Ogryns. Two squads can smash up a dreadnaught in a brawl, and match assault terminators 1:1.

Also, the reason Sentinels mess up dreadnaughts is because each need a layer of Guardsmen brand ablative armor. :P

Lesse. Oh! Fire Support Dreads = NOT WORTH IT. Baneblade = Always a good investment. Always flame the rocket marines. Always grenade heroes.

Speaking of. IG /suck/ anti-Hero early on.

First thing I buy for my command squad is a psyker. A strip soul hit will take most heroes down to 1/2 health.

That's what I did. Saved my butt against Uraniun's commander, but died after. Darn psykers and their exploding.

Edit: Don't forget how EXPENSIVE they are. 100 Req and 100 power are a lot for a one shot bomb.

Anybody up for one this afternoon? I can start any time up until 5:30 CST; no later than that, though, since I have orchestra rehearsal at 6:30.

I can't play, but try putting a lone Priest or two along with your guardsmen squards in case those assault marines jump in. They're very good at CC.

Wow. I need to unwind after that performance of the musical; there was a fire alarm right before we started, which just threw everything into confusion. Anybody up for one tonight, preferably not horrendously late?

Here's the two games I played with Uraniun235 a few days ago

The first game was a slaughter in his favor, as he ran me down in a totally humiliating manner. My Techpriest put up a good fight at least! :P

The second game was pretty epic. Quite close. More terminators and ogryns than you can count, before I pushed through, Red Army Style.

Manesero Aran.

Straight DoW, patched up to 1.4, probably get WA sometime soon though but I'll be awhile before I play it MP as I tend to prefer to finish the SP first.

Just IM me anytime at elheru07 on aim if you want a game... still a noob though, despite what Rogue would say
