What would be really nice would be to have us all on at the same time, so that we could get through a few of these short early turns. I dunno if that's feasible, though. I know a few of you have a lot on your plates.

I think Brian suggested that a few posts back. It would probably be a bitch to pull of though, especially if we're in different time zones, which we probably are.

EDIT: Oh, and by the way, the Klingon never ceases to amaze me. Truly the Klingon race has grown even less sensible since they've been transported. You were praising the Federation not too long ago. Are you unable even to hold to that position for very long or is your memory just that short?

Brian, would you be willing to post a map with a general idea of everyone's territory every now and then for us curious, non playing onlookers? If its not possible without giving away too much info, I understand. Its been a while since I have played SEIV but I wouldn't mind following how the game is going.

Don't worry peeps. Soon, in like ten turns or so, the turns will get wayyyy longer and things will heat up. You'll want a day or two in between turns to think things through, because literally one wrong move means your fleet or planets are history. Or something like that. It always turns out that way later in the game when the turns take 30 minutes to do and hours of strategizing.

Trust me you'll start thinking of it in your sleep when the game gets heated if you don't already lol. Should I add a ripper beam or an antiproton beam? How about this strategy? Should I launch mines? Only twenty more turns until I get warp point openers! And of course the mother -- you wake up in hte middle of the night, run to the computer hoping the turn's ready, and miraculously it is, or it isn't and you end up deleting your old turn and redoing the entire turn because you thought of one more thing you could do. Or something like that.

Testing (simulator) especially takes a lot of time. You test one ship design, decide to "tweak" it, get a couple more kills efficient after painstaking testing, then decide to tweak it again. You decide to tweak your production queues, tweak everything. When you have dozens of planets this takes a long, long time.

I wanted to do that from the very beginning, but I couldn't figure out how to do it with the game master password. I thought I could but when I try it just gives me "process turn".

Best I can do is the score.

<edit>I put the score on Page 1, I'll update it every turn from now on.</edit>

When the fighting starts I'll make animated GIF's .

<edit>Left to right,

Starfleet Command - arthur_tuxedo
Klingon Empire - Dalton
Borg Collective - Nephyts
Tholian Assembly - Alan_Bolte
United Federation of Planets - Uranium235
Dominion - Guppyshark
Romulans - Trogdor
Ferengi - Brianeyci

Also check out the RP thread if you're really interested what is going on in the game. For example Tholians recently found massive engine depleting weapons. Klingons having trouble with resources. Ferengi encountered Ullians from that TNG Troi-rape episode. No word on the others yet though. You can even join in if you want Dangermouse. If you have SE:IV installed I can send you my saved games. You could open them then RP about them or something . If you're experienced I think Dalton needs help maybe you could partner up with somebody two brains are better than one. If they want to of course lol.

I'm not a neophyte, Brian. I just got crappy starting planets. As for our locations, that should be fairly easy - all you'd need is your general location and we can build a map with that.

Damn, and I still feel like a neophyte. I forgot that ships can't carry out orders through unknown systems.

No of course not I apologize forgot you said you've played multiplayer before. And, even if I was a beginner, I wouldn't let someone else look at my turns. It's way too fun playing on your own . Didn't mean to offend you.

It would be hard to co-ordinate the map every single turn, and I suck at image editing . But here is mine anyway.

Sure they can I've been using it all the time... do you use the move command? It seems to work for me. I move to the center (6,6). What you do is you go to "warp" first, then after warp you put in the unknown. Save some MP that way.

Woo, finally gonna get frigates. Which I will proceed to use for absolutely nothing. I'm thinking about going with torpedoes, I figure they were probably tweaked for this mod. Has anyone looked into that, or into weapons balance in general?

Torpedoes are pretty good, especially for weapon platforms. I usually end up using a mix of pulse phasers, regular phasers, and torpedoes. For weapon platforms, I load up on torpedoes, with one pulse phaser for anti-fighter and anti-drone work.

Well at least you're one step closer to light cruiser. Honestly don't have a shitload of frigates lying around doing nothing, with emergency build you can make a frigate in one turn, if you really need it. I would wait until light cruiser.

Nothing below that, and the ionic missile only has 10 range.

Torpedoes have a huge range it looks like. Ferengi have good torpedo weapons, but they need level 15 torpedoes to get ferengi torpedoes and quantum torpedoes, and level 5 of that to get advanced ferengi torpedoes and tricobalt torpedoes. I'm sticking with Ferengi energy weapons probably. If you do use torpedoes, use maximum range strategy and concentrate on impulse engines too.

If I were you I'd stick with my racial weapons. They should be better anyway. If you don't know how to get them open the tech tree data file in the Star Trek mod directory and see what prerequisites you need. I needed level 5 energy weapons to get advanced physics, advanced physics opened up Ferengi weapons.

Dammmmmmmmnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Quantum Torpedoes look sweeeeeet. I might just use them.

What I was doing was trying to colonize planets through unknown systems, but it wouldn't do anything since the ships had no idea what they were going into. Therefore I just told them to warp.

There's quite a distance between you and I, Klingon. It would appear that Kahlass answered your prayers.

I've got no problem with adding my empire to the map, but I don't know of any website that could host my screen capture (never had a reason to find one before). Anybody care to recommend one?

Damn, but I dangerously close to Starfleet.

Get screenhunterit's what I use. <edit>whops you need a host not a prog.</edit>

Dalton I'm going to upload my map if it changes every turn to my original map. You don't have to do it every turn if it's tedious. Great job btw .

Oh and Ferengi strongly recommends orion slave girls against the Kirk Federation. Unused to decadence, mere exposure to holodecks will turn them into bafoons.. Trust us, we know from experience. Either that, or heavily armed light crusers equipped with tracor beam, engine destroying weapon, shield depleter, torpedoes or a beam weapon, and a repulser weapon in that order so they tractor, destroy the Federation's pitful exposed nacelle pylons, punch holes in their paper thin armor, then throw them back before they can do their obligatory ramming tactic .

<edit>Oh and it was a really good idea to get PBW Research trait. Without it we'd still be on 2 move point ships or something and it wouldn't be fun at all. I just hope it isn't all go to cumstain quickly, I'm not the type that likes in and out, I want it to last hopefully the neutrals give a lot of targets, I have two neutrals to pick on already.</edit>

Thanks for the help, DM. I uploaded it and sent a PM to Dalton. Assuming I haven't fucked something up (which is always possible in a scenario involving me and computers), the map should be updated whenever the Klingon gets around to it.

And Ferengi, I'll take a few hundred Orion slave women. You'll get your Latinum, I swear. Oh, BTW, thanks for the free military advise (you're not very good at this whole RPing a greedy bastard thing, are you? )

You planning on leaving me labeled "Filthy Romulan petaQs" for the whole game, Klingon?

I've got plenty of reasons to attack you when I get to you. I don't need anymore, but thanks anyway.
