Looking for a pic (clonetrooper)

Post by Comando293 »

I am on the hunt for a good picture of a clone commando. All of the of the ones at the game website are all of the squad. I need one of just a commando. I plan to use it as my avatar. The one who discovers the pick I choose will be credited. (in my sig, where else?)

Dude, we have an avatar gallery here with two great clonetrooper avatars. Just go into your profile, click "Show Gallery", select "SW-Other" and scroll down.

I still think the clonetrooper pic I shrunk for my "Grand Army of the Republic" sig image is the coolest.

I think he wants clone commandos specifically, though the 501st running is pretty badass.

Taking Alan Bolte's excellent avatar work and making it smaller size wise to fit under the 6Kb file size limit.

Hasbro has a nice picture of their upcoming Clone Commando "Scorch" action figure on their Star Wars website. I can't seem to find it at the moment, but no doubt the hi-res picture can be cropped into a good avatar.

Use an image editor, there's a list up in the stickies of this forum. Either resize your picture down to size, or select the area you want and crop away, or both (probably advisable to preserve details). For somethin' fancy like Alan Bolte pulled, you'll probably have to use a more powerful image editor along the lines of Photoshop.
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.

Use Irfanview. That is how I was able to get Alan's avatar from 9Kb to under 4Kb.

Tinkered around to see if I get the size under 6kb while preserving the 8bit transparency.

Image http://home.earthlink.net/~cyborgstan/i ... trans).png
5592 bytes, 16 colors + 8bit Trans, PNG

EDIT : Come to think of it, there seems to be some artifacts in there I may need to fix.

EDITx2 : Fixed, I think. This version should have 16 colors as well. Unless I messed something else up, which is entirely possible in my current state. In any case, the old version is now http://home.earthlink.net/~cyborgstan/i ... rans2).png

That should work; I just tested it by uploading it to SDN and the server accepted the change. Keeping the 8 bits makes it more challenging; I punted on that. Nicely done.

Huh, yeah, how'd those artifacts get in there? I guess I'm just blind.

Don't forget Glimmervoid found the pic in the first place.
