Whither Impact Resistance?

Post by Ariphaos »

Does anyone have any good resources for the impact resistance of various materials? Particularly steel, kevlar, diamonds, nanotubes, etc?

Get a fracture-mechanics textbook. They all have reference tables in the back.

There was a site a year or two ago posted here that went into good detail of basic material properties from tensile strength to thermal capcitance. I'll see if I've got it bookmarked.

Thermal capacitance, yield strength, tensile strength, all these properties are widely explained, demonstrated, and rated on the great Internet.

I research impact resistance all I seem to find is people selling glass :-(

There was a metallics database I found online, but I seem to have misplaced it :-/

Ahh well, will have to trip to a library sometime.
