Ok I am going to be looking for a new laptop. I don't need top of the line as to expensive but still looking for a good quality one thats reasonable. Have about 2000 maybe a little more to spend. What are some good laptops on the market.
Edit: I was thinking AMD processor as I do play some high end games not many though.

For games, the type of video card (forget about chipset integrated video) used in the system will be more important than whether or not the processor is an AMD Turion or an Intel Pentium-M.
Of course a mobile version of a high end ATI or nVidia card adds serious $$$ to the cost of the machine.
That said, check out gotapex.com for deals on Dell laptops.
I got my Inspiron 9300 for $949 shipped last year such a deal.

Here's the thing, you can play games on a laptop with an x700, or 6600, but the quality for modern games is going to be modest, and next generation games are going to run fairly poorly.
Two Grand is a lot of money acutally, and you'll be pleased to know that a laptop with a mobile 7800gtx is within reach!
Check out the sager 5720 at www.pctorque.com or www.discountlaptops.com
It can be had for around 2 grand, a little more depending on your config (note that custom upgrades, in the area of ram for instance, might be cheaper). It won't be pimped out, but it will be a real powerhouse for games, and be perfectly capable of anything else you want to do with it. The Sonoma P-M is a great chip for gaming, don't worry about the clock speeds.

If you would prefer a 15.4" notebook to the Sager one that was just posted, I recommend hypersonic.
http://www.hypersonic-pc.com/2001/systems-mobile-PP.asp
Their Aviator MX-Turbo currently has a $200 discount, which brings it down to the "nominally affordable" range. It has a weaker video card than the 17 inch Sager (it's only got a GeForce 6600 Go), but it's smaller, lighter, offers the same processor and twice as much RAM standard. It loses the LightScribe drive, using a regular double-layer DVD instead, and has a slightly weaker screen resolution. Most importantly, though, this system comes with a 3 year warranty standard and Windows XP. Overall, it'll offer weaker gaming but at a significantly reduced price (since the warranty and the OS may set you back), and it won't be as much worse at gaming as you'd think, because it's got an extra Gig of RAM you would have to pay for with the Sager system and the same processor. I would say that your choice should ultimately come down to how much portability you want. If you would prefer a 17" machine (or that doesn't bother you at all), then go with the Sager. If you would prefer a 15.4" one, go with Hypersonic. Neither is going to be "portable" in the sense that most people talk about machines, but the Sager only has an 8-cell battery in a 17" machine (!) which makes its portability a complete joke even if you shell out for an extra battery.
In short:
Sager system: Excellent graphics. Good screen. 17" size.
Non-existent portability--STRICTLY a DTR.
Hypersonic: Comparatively inexpensive (under $2k with an OS and warranty. ADP can be added while still paying less than the base-price of Sager).
Not great portability, but not a COMPLETE joke.
Weaker graphics, despite RAM and processor.

Incidentally, if you're sure about the AMD processor over the Pentium-M, I would recommend this sytem:
http://ibuypower.com/ibp/store/configur ... px?mid=158
From ibuypower. Many other posters have purchased desktops from these guys, and for well under $2000 you can pretty much max this system out. My brother's Turion machine works very well, and it has the huge benefit of being much less expensive than a P-M system. Its weakness is the X700 card, which as has been mentioned is unlikely to provide stellar performance into the future. I'm afraid that if you're looking for $2000 AMD laptops, the selection is pretty thin since there's a big gap between the DTRs that basically use desktop processors and the laptops that use Turions.

Honestly, if you want to do gaming, especially 2 or 3 years in the future, you'll go a lot further with a mobile 7800gtx, it's still pretty much the best card on the market. Spending $1500 for something that works now is great, but for just a bit more you can really get something that's going to have some weight for a few years, the 6600 is a great card don't get me wrong, but I think if you're going to route that involves modern games, an extra $500 (especially if it's in your budget!) will be well worth it.
Of course if it's not in your budget than by all means, the 6600 will do you fine for a while.
