I'm pretty unimpressed with Yoda. I'd take Mace Windu over him anyday, plus he has an awesome jump attack. And what's with Yoda not having a saber throw? He's one of the few Jedi we actually see performing one in the movies.

Sadly the Specials seem to range from Eh...like most to spectacular.
Chewie and Leia are great team players(One having a power up ability the other give super defense)
Han is actually quite nasty since he can hack into vehicles.
And Maul...Maul is hands down the best of the Jedi.

Just got the OT Galactic Conquests to do now. I've got Endurance, Guardian and Frenzy to elite, and I'm working on Gunslinger. I never use Engineers, so I'm not bothering to get the Fletchette rifle.
And compared to the Dark Trooper, the Jet Troopers flying ability is pants. The Dark Trooper can go further, faster. I guess the Jet Troopers would be useful for precise landings, but they move so slowly they're just asking for a blaster bolt in the face.

to use your award weapon, you have to cycle through your weapons, otherwise your still using the stock weapon.
The most useful award weapon is the Precision Pistol. It may only be semi-automatic, but a doubletap to the head will take down most non-hero opponents, and it's much more useful than the default pistol. It shines in close to mid-range combat.
The Elite Rifle is the next most useful. While in effect it becomes a semi-auto weapon (firing closely packed 3-round bursts that are enough to take down most non-hero opponents), the massive increase in damage is worth the lower RoF. This weapon excels in mid-range combat, although it does pretty decently at every range.
The Flechette Shotgun just does more damage than the standard shotgun. Still overwhelmingly a close-combat boomstick with a low rate of fire. Like the regular shotgun, the blast tends to expand horizontally more than it does vertically, and with the damage boost, you can get multiple kills from a well-aimed burst.
Only the award rocket launcher does not replace the normal form of the weapon it's based off of, but that's because the guided rockets are pitifully weak against vehicles, and you only get 4 shots. If your on an open map and camped out far back by an ammo droid, it's fun to play "Redeemer" and steer it towards infantry, but the blast is so small that only a direct hit will result in a kill.

Who else agrees with me that the TIE Interceptor is by far the best space superiority fighter in the game? That thing is fast, manueverable, and accurate as hell. Coupled with homing missiles, its death on wings. A bit fragile though.
As for heavy bombers, the V-wing takes the cake. Light and fast, it packs quite a wallop with its proton bombs. I'd say the ARC-170 and the X-Wing are tied for the best medium fighter.

Did anyone else have a hard time with the Tantive level on campaign? I've played it like four times, and my reinforcements always disappear too quickly to complete the mission. Apparently, these Rebels can set up a better choke point than the ones in the movie.

They set up something around 4-5 perfect choke points. Literally it's having your guys wade into one of them, get slaughtered, while asking you to accomplsih the mission pretty much alone. It's absolutely disgusting what they expect of you and your batch of white armored morons.Noble Ire wrote:Did anyone else have a hard time with the Tantive level on campaign? Gaah, I tried it again. My entire squad was wiped out at the first chokepoint, leaving only me, a standard stormie. Of course, despite the strategic position, the Rebel AI is moronic, and I was able to rack up 255 kills just sitting the main hall. I managed to take the first command post by myself, and my uber-powered trooper (bonuses from all the kills) almost completed the next phase single-handed, but no luck. Pissing me off...Ghost Rider wrote:They set up something around 4-5 perfect choke points. The Tantive, Yavin (surface), and Hoth missions are by far the hardest on the "Rise of Empire" campaign. On those levels, the Rebels have numerous kill zones where your men will be continually slaughtered over and over again depleting your extremely limited reinforcement count. The Rebels on the other hand have an unlimited amount.Ghost Rider wrote:They set up something around 4-5 perfect choke points. That is the key difference between this and the first game. This campaign is more objective oriented and your reinforcements will materialize ONLY after you accomplish certain objectives. Therefore, if you guys get massacred on the first objective, you're pretty much screwed. Thus each objective becomes a potential "shatterpoint" for your forces. The first Battlefront merely had reinforcements for the entire mission, which it made more balanced and easier.
Yavin was such a bitch of a level. First you have to defend the Fountain from LEGIONS of shotgun and bowcaster equipped Rebels. After getting through that slog, I was down to one guy (me). I basically had to dodge and weave like crazy to plant the bomb on the Temple doors and get my paltry extra 10 men. Having a sliver of health made it even more insane.
The only way I beat Hoth was to literally pound the Rebel outposts from the AT-AT (which is now far more deadlier and accurate) and then disembark and take the CP. The Dark Trooper is extremely useful on this level.
Granted, playing on "Elite" makes these missions even MORE ridiculous.

For the Tantive I spend alot of time running through and ignoring the massed Rebels and just completing my objectives. When I'm able I spawn as Vader and just wade right in. Although he is soon defeated, I get him to take out at least a dozen rebels. Then you have to defeat Leia (if you can find her). I was only able to beat that level before running out of reinforcements by throwing a bunch of grenades into Leia's hide out, and letting them to my work for me. Her "sporting blaster" is lethal.
Yeah. I spent half that level blowing Rebels to peices in the AT-AT (which the snowspeeders seem unable to take out. . .) jumping out near command posts, capturing them and then moving on to the shield generator, which blows up quite easily. After that taking the forward hangar is a bitch, I have to hide under snowspeeders to survive. THen I spawn Darth Vader and kick Rebel ass for a few minutes. But the real bitch is getting that Beacon to the trench and then protecting it for 1 minute (good thing it's fucking sturdy). I just spawn as a Darktrooper and rocketed my way to the trench with the flag, and then vigorously defended it with a Heavy Trooper (those Auto Turrets are a bitch!!)Hoth though....I hated Hoth near the end....fucking A, throw enough Rebels at me?!

I found that the more Rebs I killed before I captured teh CP, the easier it was for me to defend it later. Granted I still had over 30 reinforcements by the time the objective was complete. After that I jumped into an Imp Tank to get to the bomb's mini-temple, and fought my way to the Main Temple's door. Then I had to re-spawn as a Dark Trooper to avoid the numerous Rebel Tanks inside the Temple (those things are much more lethal the BF1's Reb tanks!!), and used grenades to take out the command staff (Damn Bothan's and their invisibility trick!!!).Yavin was such a bitch of a level. Since WHEN can you use a jet pack (for either the Jet Trooper, Dark Trooper, or as one of the Fetts) when carrying an item or a flag? I definitely couldn't.The Original Nex wrote:I just spawn as a Darktrooper and rocketed my way to the trench with the flag, and then vigorously defended it with a Heavy Trooper (those Auto Turrets are a bitch!!)

Hmmmm, you're right. THAT'S why my jet pack didn't work. Correction then, I ran around through the trenches with the flag. I know I used the DT for something though. . .huhOrder 66 wrote:Since WHEN can you use a jet pack (for either the Jet Trooper, Dark Trooper, or as one of the Fetts) when carrying an item or a flag? I personnally prefer the Tri-Fighter for my interceptor needs... and go with the TIE Bomber for my cap ship runs.
Funny thing. In spaceship maps, the only thing that makes a bomber more worthwhile than a generic fighter is the additional health. The proton torpedoes do more damage than proton bombs, and you can fire off six before undergoing that lengthy rearm delay.m.castaldo wrote:Order 66 wrote:Who else agrees with me that the TIE Interceptor is by far the best space superiority fighter in the game? Space maps only unfortunately. The LAAT is the landing ship for the clones, though you can still go out with a full load of troops aboard and gunners. They can be surprisingly effective once you notice that the missile gunner can systematically strip a capital ship of its defensive turrets from across the map.
of course, this relies on your pilot being competent enough to not crash your transport into your mothership while your operating the homing missiles.SylasGaunt wrote:Space maps only unfortunately. It is indeed Instant Action. Select "Mos Eisley" from the level selection. Next it will ask to select a mode for the stage (such as Conquest, Capture the Flag, Hunt, etc). Select Assault. This is the Hero free for all. Unfortunately, its only available for the Mos Eisley map.The Original Nex wrote:Why can't I find the Heroes Free-For-All level in Mos Eisley? Is it Instant Action?? Tantive truely is a bitch, all the rebels at the start are snipers and I think they all have beam rifles(which pierce targets), but for the first few seconds of the level its nothing but deadly sniper fire and grenades. Vader really caries you through the 2nd objective and if your lucky the third. I didn't have much trouble with it after the third objective because I am a shotgun WHORE, and since he comes with 5 nice little ammo/health packs in tow he's durable, and the confied areas make shotgunning(especially flechette) a breeze. Just blasted my way methodically accross the tantive and let loose a few shots into leia's face to end it.
Yavin's a bitch because while the Rebels are tank happy, your buddies don't do shit with the tanks provided. Defending the reflecting pool isn't so bad if your in a tank(just need to bail out ever once and a while to undo what capturing they've done, the CP just before that is hard cause you usually have 3 rebel tanks bearing down on you with maybe one tank covering you while you capture a point. I was able to aquire the bomb and drop it off by using the engineer's supplies to keep me alive as a ran but then died to a tower. Came back from the begining of the level, blasting my way through rebel tanks then back up to the stairs so that the tank was blocking some fire as I moved up the stairs. Shotguned two of the bothans then turned and saw the objective arrow pointing at nothing facing the hanger. Shit I think he moved into the hanger, I move up to the window to see if I can hit him from there and thats when the incenration starts, I turn to blast him, but my clip is out, and he toasts me before I can reload, ending the level.
Hoth wasn't too hard for me, only took two tries, both times I made it to the Hangar with no reenforcements left, but with my flechette shotgun I was able to kill several dozen rebels and half way capture the point the first time, and completely capture it the second, then vader carried me all the way to placing the beacon, which the AI defended alone til the end.
Couple tricks I've found to get some of the harder medals easily, Endo Hunt Free play mission is good for the pistol, because nobody can hit shit in that level. The scouttroopers fire too high, the ewoks barely fire at all, so you basicly have as long as you want to run around racking up gunslinger medals. Demolitions is even easier with Geonosis, just set the AIs per team to 1, so that there is 1 Clonetrooper runing around, and you and 1 CIS AI running around, just capture the CP near where the AT-TE spawns and blast away with an assualt droid(the weak point is the under side of the AT-TE in the front end). Just set the reenforcements insanely high, and when your done, capture all the CPs to end it, it'll take days for you to finish it otherwise. For the Frenzy and Marksmen I recommend the Death Star. The area that connects the detention blocks to the superlaser firing room(the area the trash compactor leads out to) has some long distance areas, that are pretty tight, so you can use the scope and kill them off from afar while receive mild return fire, and with a medical droid near by its easy to keep your self alive. Any tight levels like the Tantive and Mustafar are great for Regulator medals, just walk arround blasting using the supply item to keep yourself alive.
