I can think of 3 examples:

Troi, Kira, and Seven. All spent the majority of their screentime in other outfits or uniforms, but when they put on the Starfleet uniform, did they seem... 'hotter' to anyone else?

I'm a bad, bad man, I know.

No. And if you get turned on by the Starfleet uniform, you have very, very serious problems.

Not the uniform, but maybe something in the lines or how they wear them. I dunno, I'm bored.

They looked "hotter" but not in a sexual way. They weren't dressed like sluts, so they looked "hotter". I found T'Pol to be "hotter" wearing the Starfleet uniform in the mirror universe episode than wearing her standout red Vulcan uniform.

It's hard to explain... I don't get turned on by women showing a lot of skin necessarily.

The uniforms are at least somewhat sensible clothing, unlike the Seven/T'Pol silly catsuit style. They do look better in uniforms.

I definitely liked Troi in her Starfleet science uniform. Kira looked best in the late generation Bajoran uniform. Seven and T'Pol just looked silly in their catsuits.

Troi certainly looked better in her uniform, but that may be simply because the thing she wore before it was quite off-putting and ridiculous.

Troi was hottest in that one episode where the ambassador was sucking the life-force out of her and it made her crazy and when Riker showed up at her door she was rather scantily clad.

When did Kira put on a Starfleet uniform? For that matter, when did Seven put on a Starfleet uniform?

Seven wore one in this episode that was basically all about her going to the holodeck and pretending that she'd gotten rid of all her borg implants and was dating Chakotay. The whole ep was basically shameless fan service for the horny teenage boy demographic, but she did look appealing out of her usual absurd costume and with her hair down.

Kira was given a Starfleet uniform when she was sent to work with the Cardassian resistance toward the end of DS9.

No. Troi looked like crap in the uniform. In those other outfits she wore, she looked much hotter.

Troi's unitard catsuit bullshit looked like shit. She looked much better when they finally got her fucking ass in a uniform, which she should have been wearing in the first God damn place from day one.

Only in Encounter at Farpoint. That was also hideous. She ALWAYS should have had a uniform, she was a goddamn Lieutenant Commander and a trained psychologist.

For the early years of the show, the writers just had no idea what the fuck to do with Troi.

The late DS9 era Uniform looked more professional, and when Kira was in it, she looked more professional rather then like she was wearing pajamas, and it made her character appear smarter, and therefor more pleasent.

The way you look can have a big impact on how people interpret your personality.

Though for whatever reason, Troi didn't look bad in the blue uniform. The support it gave her breasts made them more promenent and less "saggy". :?

Counter Example: T'Pol.

Hot made up like a model... weird and boyish when made up like T'pol.

Unless you've got the hots for that kind of thing (B&B seem to have had a fetish for short haired women in cat suits.. they even made JR put her hair up most of the time).

And how dare you insult saggy boobs Alyeska!

fun/fantasy movies existed before the overrated Star Wars came out. What made it seem 'less dark' was the sheer goofy aspect of it: two robots modeled on Laurel & Hardy, and a smartass outlaw with bigfoot co-pilot and their hotrod pizza-shaped ship, and they were sucked aboard a giant Disco Ball. -adw1

I agree wholeheartedly. I didn't even realize why I preferred her in that uniform so much until she changed back into her Bajoran catsuit.

In the beginning of the series, she wore a regular, two-piece Bajoran military uniform. But then they stuck her in a catsuit with the same pattern.

There was one episode where Torrez (voyager) had her Klingon half stripped from her and she was just a frail HUMAN. Something about that episode made her more attractive, and I don't believe she was in uniform.

Definately a far cry from her Klingon persona.

I thought Troi was totally unattractive from Day One, no matter what she wore. I just didn't like her whole persona, the way she carried herself, everything. I could tell that the producers were trying to make her the token sex-appeal star of the show, but I wasn't having any of it.

Personally, I always thought Kira was far more attractive. For that matter, I actually thought she was more attractive than any of the other women on the show, such as Dax. For one thing, she didn't have that haughty "I'm a model and you're scum" way of carrying herself, and she also had a perky walk. Yes, I place great emphasis on how a woman walks.

Different strokes I guess :)

Really? I got a very down to Earth vibe from Dax that seemed to carry over into her character on Becker. I don't know, Kira always struck me as a chip-on-her-shoulder stuck up bitch.

Troi was nasty but that's racism on my part I guess. I found Dax attractive because of her height and strength. Kira was stuck-up snotty and I couldn't stand her voice early DS9, but eventually I got used to it.

<edit>Oh, and Seven was so no fucking hot. She was fucking gross especially the Borg shit on her hands and the way she always wore up her hair. I guess I have a pattern, all those catsuit girls were nasty to me and Dax wearing a normal uniform I found hot. So, that must be it -- I don't like sluts. Ezrai was cute too, but if she had been wearing a catsuit she would have been nasty too. I guess that answers the op's question -- uniform does make a difference.</edit>

I agree. I may have been young when TNG came out, but I grew up with it. Then, a few years back I saw an interview with Sirtis where she said "I was basically supposed to be the sex symbol" and the thing that immediately popped into my mind was "Then why weren't you sexy?"

I mean, did anyone see posters of her? Did her character ever do anything sexy, or anything at all besides bitch and moan?

In that one episode where some diplomat was dumping his negative emotions into her, Troi dressed up sexy and came onto Riker rather strongly, but that was only a one time thing.

Personally, I wished that they'd kept Tasha Yarr's sister around instead of killing her off. I thought she was quite attractive, and at least would've been a better character than Troi.
