Jeopardy Knows Leeroy Jenkins (Warcraft)

Post by Utsanomiko »

But the College-Edition contestants did not (can't say I blame them. "Oh, I've definitely got time to play an MMO!"). :P

The answer was essentially:

"In this 2004 role-playing game, players return to the world of Azeroth, where heros like Leeroy Jenkins do battle."

They actually mentioned Leeroy, a completely unofficial part of the game. I caught it on TV and proceeded to laugh my ass off. Made my day. Although I am also reminded that you can't look him up on Wikkipedia (other than a vague, POV-filled half-paragraph in the World of Warcraft article). So screw those elitist twits who think they know what's prevalent/important information and what isn't; all I ever see is them debate what subjects do and don't belong there, I've even seen them discuss deleteing entries for ancient mythological beasts. They're just unintellectual people who are bitter they can't be real scholars or archivists. But I digress, I'm still amused to have heard Leeroy Jenkins be a Jeopardy! question.

Since it was the Collegian Edition, they probably assumed it was something that agegroup would know

Probably. The category was Computer Games, and they were on the ball with every single other question. I guess they picked a hard one for the $1000 puzzler.

Maybe if they said online role-playing or mentioned Orcs as the clue instead of Leeroy Jenkins one of them would have gotten it, but in that case I wouldn't be here writing about it.

LEEEEROOOOOY JEEEEEEENKIIIINS!

Elune be damned, I get one in every party. This made me laugh at the image of Alec going 'Goddamnit Leeroy', after Sean Connery makes fun of his face.

What's sad about this little bit is that the MMO player plainly, and I mean plainly, said Leeroy Baggins. NOT JENKINS. Why millions of people suddenly lose proper hearing when it comes to this is mind boggling.
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

The hell he said "Baggins," he said "Jenkins" clear as day.

Or is this just another one of your Hamelisms?

Not that anyone gives a damn but I heard "Neggins." Course, I had the benefit of watching the video before anyone told me what he said.

He throws in a "NNNNN" before the "Jenkins", but that's just because it sounds cooler.

Uts didn't even know about Leeroy until I showed him the video like a month ago.

He laughed for five minutes or so after watching the video.

He should have wagered 787 instead. Having an ending score of 31337 is better than wagering 1337. : )
