South Park show on Scientology
The new South Park episode 'Trapped in the closet' exposes Scientology as total insanity and literally brought tears to my eyes. I'm sure everyone here will find it hysterical even if you're not a fan of the show. They do a great job of demonstrating the bizarre stuff that Scientology claims, and even flash across the screen: "This is what they actually believe" as they describe Zenu, soul collection, DC-8 space craft, and the other nonsense. It's on tonight so don't miss it!

That could be why Chef wasn't in the episode.

The Reformed Church or Scientology? I thought Scientology just came in one flavor, asit were.drachefly wrote:He could be in the reformed church of scientology, which rejects Xenu, etc.... but then you'd think they'd raise that issue. Very odd.

I liked how the stuff Kyle was making up wasn't really much crazier than any other scientology.

Fucking hillarious and one has to wonder if the Church of Scientology won't try another IP suit against Comedy Central. Of course they were probably caught flat footed as unlike most shows, South Park can be made literally days before it airs (the finishing touches are often done hours before the air date) so I wouldn't be surprised if nobody knew about this till the last minute.
The best part though is that in the space of a couple of minutes South Park was able to give away the entire secret teachings of Scientology up to Clear level. Sorta ruins it for any prospective Scientologists doesn't it?

What's the episode and season number? I might try and *ahem* acquire it.

I only caught parts of it, but it did end with a pretty blatant challange for the Scientologists to sue them.
Of course, it would be awesome if they could actually go to court and give the scientologists the "What for!"

How exactly would that be legal? Wouldn't it be seen as, I don't know, obstructing freedom of speech without just cause? The Kernel wrote:Fucking hillarious and one has to wonder if the Church of Scientology won't try another IP suit against Comedy Central.

IIRC, Scientology's SOP for these things is just to sue, sue, sue, and sue ridiculously, in the (often realized) hope that the defendant simply won't bother showing up to court, hence giving the plaintiff a victory by default. The judge can't throw it out as frivolous unless there is a defense present, as I recall.wolveraptor wrote:How exactly would that be legal?
