oh god... Nitram just got Winter Assault, and now it's ONLINE? *whimper* I'll never see him again!

Quick question:

I got DoW on saturday, the "Game of the Year" edition. It (apparently) came patched to 1.4 out of the box, and since the machine I'm running it on isn't connected to the interweb, I haven't done any auto-updates or anything.

Now, the problem is that that no mods seem to work for it; I've tried the Daemonhunters, Tau and Harlequin mods and they all crash to desktop before the main menu loads. Can anyone help me?

Nope. You'll have to wait; Relic hasn't released the mod tools for 1.4 yet, so all the modders have to work with is 1.3.

Just to rant a moment... What a bunch of lazy assholes, those insisting on waiting for the 1.4 tools! We've had the technology to extract the .LUA files since the beta, as people were modding the Beta with them.

These fucks make me sick. I modded Fallout and C&C: Red Alert with less than this.

Thankfully, the Daemonhunters, Steel Legion, and Denizens of the Warp teams are working with the raw LUAs, and so is the Rebirth team, I think. There's just alot of changes to cover, and extensive rebalancing.

Do I really have to post a replay of our first game? He's not the only one that could do with having the ego taken down a peg, it seems.

Actually..

Speaking of which, that mod is HUGE! The thing's the size of the original game; I noticed last night when I was cleaning old programs off of my hard drive. (It was so full that I couldn't run the patch installer.

I'm getting a second HD.)

SL gets my respect because they never released anything not uber-polished. The version for 1.3 was their first, and it had no recycled content whatsoever. They're probably working out how best to implement this stuff with it's limitations, as well as wrestling with the new code changes(Artillery especially needs some work).

One of the big limitations is doing multiple kinds of leaders means you can't bring heavy weapons with the squad. So you could, for example, have a squad of Guard and add Heavy Weapons Teams, but you'd lose the ability to give them 'nade launchers.

Wait, if so, why does the squad pictured above have Guardsmen with plasma rifles?

Anywho, as long as everybody's paying attention to this thread all of a sudden, is anybody up for a game or three this weekend?

I didn't make it, but I assume they simply made a variant Guard with a plasma rifle. I could be wrong. I'm still fiddling. Gonna see if I can implement vehicles in the place of a leader.

Like a Guardian Squad with a Brightlance platform, or a Guard Squad with a Chimera.
