Looking for Good Classic Rock...

Post by Einhander Sn0m4n »

Anyone got any good titles for '50s, '60s, '70s, and '80s rock? I already know most any Led Zep and Pink Floyd is gold, for example, but I'm looking for y'all's picks for good Classic Rock. Thanks :)

Stop me if you've heard this already, but I'm partial to: Styx; Elton John; Chicago (the earlier stuff); Blood Sweat & Tears; Boston; Crosby, Stills, Nash (& Young). Those are just from the 70s and 80s. There are so many that it hurts if you count the 50s and 60s.

A few of my favourites:

"Can't You See" by the Marshall Tucker Band
"Cathedral," "Chicago" and "Carry On/Questions" by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
"Moondance" by Van Morrison
"What About Me" by Quicksilver Messenger Service
"Long-Distance Runaround," "Close to the Edge" (that whole album is amazing), "I've Seen All Good People," and "Roundabout" by Yes
"Ain't No Sunshine" by Bill Withers
"Whipping Post" and "Midnight Rider" by the Allman Brothers Band
"The Weight" by The Band
"King of Pain" by The Police
"Mr. Soul" by Buffalo Springfield
"The Court Of The Crimson King/The Return Of The Fire Witch/The Dance Of The Puppets" by King Crimson
"Instant Karma!" by John Lennon
"Me and Julio Down By the Schoolyard" by Paul Simon

+ Queen, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles

Queen and Van Halen are two of the more obvious and essential ones.

Einy, now that your living in San Antonio you should tune in 103.7(it suppose to be on 105.4 to but I only hear it on 103.7) KMFR. They play a better mix and older stuff then 104.5 KZEP, and they have a much better comercial set up since they are smaller. 4 comercials an hour spread out, all made and voiced by the people that run the station so that they aren't annoying as fuck like most radio comercials are nowadays(far exceeding Old Navy TV ads)

Rush and Alan Parsons Project. Guarantee you'll dig at least some of Alan Parsons if you like Pink Floyd, and Rush just flat-out rocks.

Interesting tidbit: Alan Parsons worked as the sound producer on Dark Side of the Moon.

Queen, Van Halen, Elton John and Chicago all rule, as do the Beatles (of course).

The title of that Three Dog Night song, you know, the famous one, is actually "Joy to the World"
