Ooooh...will we get to see another Trek miss?
Still good to see it's all coming back together.

Mr. Poe, was the second line supposed to be said by Han? My copy of the novel doesn't have that exchange, so I can't check it myself, but it looked strange so I thought I'd mention something.ANH
LUKE: Why don't you outrun them? I thought you said this ship was fast!
LUKE: Are you kidding? At the rate they're gaining?

In the movie, both of those lines are said by Luke.Techno_Union wrote:Mr. Poe, was the second line supposed to be said by Han? My copy of the novel doesn't have that exchange, so I can't check it myself, but it looked strange so I thought I'd mention something.ANH

I may be an idiot, but I'm a tolerated idiot

About time someone provided a video clip of Home One making its turn in ROTJ. I've been pointing that out to Trektards for sometime now to refute their nonsense about non-existant maneuvering of Wars Cap ships and of course they ignore it.

You can say "To be or not to be" before the torp hits, as in ST6. You can look around
the room at your crewmates and mumble for a while as in ST7. You can also say "Warp speed
now!" and escape a torp that was fired at you, as was done in ST5. Dodging torps has been
done before, the writers have forgotten about this however.
Photon torps move slowly and are pretty weak. It took *five* direct hits to destroy an
*unshielded* scout ship in ST6. An ISD, without shields, could probably take hundreds of
these pesky little mosquitoes without much trouble. With the ISD's shields up, well, ST was
a cute little show.
And of course, when RSA isn't busy trying to be anti-Wong, he puts up bizarro-world equivalents to my pages. You can find a "rebuttal" page to this one on his website.
And yes, the Trekkie avatar is Napoleon Dynamite!

I feel stupid, couldn't find the clip in Poe's site. Could anyone be so kind as to link to it?Darth Servo wrote:About time someone provided a video clip of Home One making its turn in ROTJ. I think between those lines Han said something likeTechno_Union wrote:Mr.
"Watch your mouth kid - your gonna find yourself floating home. We'll be safe enough once we make the jump to light speed."
Then there was some line about getting calculations from the Nav Computer before Luke's line.

Ok, I guess I will play the Village (trek) idiot for now.
Like the typical V-T-i, I will agree that the SW ships are very manueverable. They fly like WWII planes but in space.
I have always been used to trek ships being slow and cumbersome; even the shuttles.
However, I remember the E-D pulling some 90 degree manuever in an asteroid field using thrusters and I think a little bit of gravity. I'm not that much of a geek, so I don't know which episode that was. But it reminded me of Batman's grappling hook manuever (or even to a limited degree Automan)
Then there was the Trek movie. Again, I can't remember which one. It was the one with the Borg and the E-D going into the past after a Borg-Ball.
Anyway, just as the E-D arrived, there were several Trek ships performing manuevers which I thought they were not suppose to be able to perform. Once again, they were never seen before or since, so I suppose it was typical Writer's Block(head). So I am curious as to the local rhetoric (just give me a link if it's easier and has been talked about).
I also understand that even if in a Trek vs SW fight, the trek ships were sublight faster and more manueverable, the SW ship(s) would just have to fire one or two times and eventually destroy the flies.

"All Suspects are guilty, period. Otherwise, they wouldn't be suspects, would they."
Booby Trap. While it did show some unusual manoevres, it wasn't particularly fast. However, I remember the E-D pulling some 90 degree manuever in an asteroid field using thrusters and I think a little bit of gravity. First Contact, with the E-E and the Borg SphereThen there was the Trek movie. Again, I can't remember which one. It was the one with the Borg and the E-D going into the past after a Borg-Ball.
Let's see -Anyway, just as the E-D arrived, there were several Trek ships performing manuevers which I thought they were not suppose to be able to perform.
Defiant : yes, it dodges the cutting beam by swerving side-to-side, but that's not unusual for such a small ship.
Miranda class : does a 180° turn, IIRC, but not a very fast one.
The rest are not noticeably more agile then what we've seen in the series.
