Hmm, I diagree. Yoda's action against Dooku and his action against Palpatine seem rather different.
You're saying this was an "accident" that he spewed out some lightning at Dooku due to some kind of "overload" rather than something intentional?
Vs. the battle with Palpatine, where it seemed he was barely holding on, he seemed quite in control with Dooku. He only used one hand for instance (though I guess Dooku only used one hand as well!), and wasn't being pushed back during the contest like with Palpatine. He both pushed the lightning back (in an arc around him and towards Dooku, but not actually hitting him) and the case where he actuall throws a bolt directly at him (force Dooku to "block" it into the ceiling).
Besides, Ghost Rider disagreed with you earlier, and I need to show spousal loyalty and back him up, or I swear I'll be without sex for a month.
Congratulations! Say no more...
fun/fantasy movies existed before the overrated Star Wars came out. What made it seem 'less dark' was the sheer goofy aspect of it: two robots modeled on Laurel & Hardy, and a smartass outlaw with bigfoot co-pilot and their hotrod pizza-shaped ship, and they were sucked aboard a giant Disco Ball. -adw1

I don't know if Yoda using Darth Tyranus' lighting against him really constitutes him making an attack. Its like taking a piece of Armor plate and using it to bounce a machine gunner's own bullets back at him. Its still really his attack you are just redirecting it to make him hurt himself.
That in all appearences is a defensive action.

That was disapointing ..Should we show this Federation how to build a ship so we may have worthy foes? Typhonis 1

Not at all. I'm saying he had the energy Dooku launched toward him in his hand, and used that energy in the most effective fashion, by redirecting it back toward Dooku.

And so we see that Dooku can, in fact, redirect the path of Force lightning, showing it to be eminently possible. Why would Yoda not be able to do this?

We never see Dooku do what Yoda does, but that raising an interesting scenario, where Dooku and Yoda bounce a "lightning bolt" between them like a game of pong (sort of like the famous Jedi Pong hypothetical scenario with a blaster bolt).
Ultimately this is an exercise in deciding how Yoda can use lightning without becoming "tainted" by using lightning, and how he can attack without attacking. Consult the Jedi Code, (Directive 44387).

It's a bit funny, yeah. Ultimately I think Force Lightning is too unpredictable to control to that degree as it is, and may also disperse too quickly for a repeated game of Force-assisted tennis to be fruitful.
