Favorite SW ship

Post by OmegaGuy »

I'm sorry if this has been done before, but I looked in the common topics and I did a search and couldn't find anything.

Anyway, what is you favorite Star Wars ship?

Mine is the missile boat.

If this has been done before you can just lock it.

I always thought the winged Mon-Cal cruisers were pretty cool.

For capships, I like the Venators and the winged MonCals.

For fighters, I'd go with the Eta-2, E-Wings, and A-Wings.

I'll divide this up into catagories:

Peon: Cutlass-9 Patrol Fighter (Sharp Spiral)

Image

Nice and small, not too many frills or extras or things like that, but a very good looker, if I say so myself.

Small-Scale: YT-2000 (Otana)

Image

Taking that beat up ol' hunk of junk we all know and love so well, this fixes the one major flaw that would deter me from choosing the Falcon itself. Large enough to be able to do quite a few things, but also small enough to be managable by a single man - that's what I love about this ship.

Large-Scale: Acclamator Transport

(C'mon, this should be familier to all of you. No image for you!)

If I ever needed to haul a lot of crap and haul it fast, I'd trust nothing else. You've got an almost absurd amount of space for vehicles, troops, and supplies, shields and weaponry enough to hold off minor nusciences, and damn if it just doesn't look nice.

EDIT: Woah. Where the hell'd Flaon come from?

I'm going to have to me too here. You just can't get any more awesome than the sleek dagger profile of the Imperial warships. The Executor-class is pretty damn slick as well, but it still doesn't say Empire in the same was as the Imperators do. They're like the Death Star, or TIE Fighters.

World Devastator, with full database.

Plop one of these into almost any universe, and the 'Captain' of the vessel will soon have his (or her) very own empire, no matter what.

Robotic fighters for protection, mining droids supplementing the WD's own mining, eventually build your own Industrial world, with a few square kilometers of droid controlled farms for your food.

Build a genetics lab, and you can eventually become the parent of a new set of humanity. Use the quick-learn helmets seen in AotC, and you can train the people however you want. Your own harem, slave workers, alien paradise, anything

Fighter: Hard to decide. Some of my favorites include the Y-wing, the TIE Fighter, and pretty much any fighter from Episode III.

Patrol ship/Transport: Slave I

Capital ship: Venator, Lucrehulk, and Nebulon-B Frigate.

I really like the Ethersprite, although the B-Wing is pretty high up there too.

In terms of Cap ships, I've always been fond of the Home One.

I prefer the smaller ships.

YT-1300s.
YT-2400s.
YT-2000s.
The Ebon Hawk.
Barloz freighters.
Ghtroc 720 freighters.
Ghtroc Cargo Baroness medium freighters.

The bigger ships seem too ungainly to me. I like the ships that, from a writer's point of view, forces characters to interact. From an in-universe pov, they slip into and out of places easily.

Cap ships:

Executor SSD - All I have to say about this one is SWEET!
ISD - Classic and beautiful
Venators - The fighter carrier from hell!

Transports:

Corellian Corvette - sweet ride
Action VI Bulk Freighter - just cool
HT-2200 Medium Freighter - The Falcons older brother
Starwind-class Pleasure Yacht - look at what it comes packed with!

Fighters:

TIE Defender - One of the hardest mofo's even into the NJO period
X-Wing - another classic, and with upgrades still deadly in the NJO
Assault Gunboat - Another hardened killer
ARC-170 - X-Wings older brother
Alpha-3 Nimbus-class V-Wing - another just cool looker
Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor - forerunner of the TIE

Ground Vehicle:

A6 Juggernaut Heavy Assault Vehicle/wheeled - Sweet
BARC speeder - looks cooler that than the one from RotJ (at least I think so)

I've always been really fond of the YT-2000, since X Wing Alliance came out many, many moons ago. Tis my favorite EU ship and probably my tip top favorite ship in SW period.

I'm also fond of the X wing and A Wing and since RotS, a big fan of the Venator SD. I actually like her lines better than the Imperator.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

For Capships, the Executor-class Star Dreadnaught, followed closely by the Imperator-II-class Star Destroyer.

For Fighters, the B-Wing and the Assault Gunboat stand out in my mind as my all-time favorite fighter craft, although the TIE Interceptor gets an honorable mention.

For EU vessels, two of my favorites just in appearance are the Marauder-class Corvette favored by the CSA and the early Rebel Allience, and the Miy'til Fighter of the Hapes Consortium.
