Seems to me the DT can just pick up another gun and presto chango something and we got a new profile.

As I recall the DT is a simple shocktrooper.

The marines do considerably more than that. e.g. investigations special ops so on so forth. Thats what I meant

I think their primary functions are tactical soldiers, infiltrators (SM scouts and snipers) heavy weapons crews (Devastator squads or Terminators) And they are capable of operating speeders, bikes, etc. and even Dreadnoughts.

Whereas DT is, like NecronLord said, a shocktrooper.

Space Marines are well able to take on any military role..

Im gonna bump this topic by restating that I reckon that if the DT has force powers then the Space Marine has to be a Grey Knight to make it a fair fight...

& the Grey Kight would win! Yay...!

On a side note, if the Empire had gotten its act together & put the DT's into mass production all the character shields in the galaxy wouldn't have saved the Rebellion...
