Got hit by an AIM-virus

Post by CaptainChewbacca »

I got an inlined link from my brother saying "I took new pics, check them out!"

He sends me pics alot, so I clicked. Virus. Always confirm an inlined link is from a friend if they out of the blue send it to you. I was in the middle of a conversation with him when it came.

Don't use the AIM client, use an alternate.

That doesn't stop you from getting infected if you click the link though - at most it will prevent you from spreading it to others. The weakest link in computer security is always the human factor.

If the "AIM-Virus" is designed to be used in conjunction with "AIM" and not "Trillan" then generally it will not infect your computer if you don't have the counterpart.

Bleh. I personally really like the AIM client's interface, much moreso than the other clients.
