Yes I would prefer that both the Shadows and Vorlons be a Pirate or even a Nomad race. But that's not implemented I don't think.

Does he play SE:IV. SE:IV is a different beast than any other game and if he's just coming in for the RP he will be disappointed. Maybe it's better if he not play the game and just do the RP with another player who doesn't want to play the game but just do the RP. The Vorlons and Shadows work in the background after all. If he's never played SE:IV he might not like the game especially after he finds out the Vorlons and Shadows are nerfed for game balance and he can't kick everybody's ass.

They're nerfed for game balance?

I thought they weren't. That's why they were banned?

The Shadows and Vorlons have MASSIVE technological and economic head starts over all other races. Their advanced tech is acquirable extremely early, but they're not allowed to build any kind of ship with a colony module. That's how they're balanced. The only way they can colonize anything is by stealing colonies or colony ships.

Edit: Oh, yes. And agreed on that if we allow First Ones, we must have the opposing player be about somewhere. Hrm. I've already claimed Minbari. I'd recommend for a new player one of the more minor empires, such as Drazi or the Vree. They've got some good stuff of their own and aren't major RPers or easy to RP. The Narn are a possibility as well (space palestinians!)

Lesse. Races, Races...

Drazi, Narn are good Early - Midgame empires that have an excellent opening stock of techs. Later on, they tend to get overshadowed but may have build up a good advantage by then anyway.. Heavy Laser For the Win.

EA, Centauri and Vree are good midgame Races. The EA leans towards Early Midgame, and Centauri towards Late. They have the most ship options and generally suitable weapons. Heavy Particle Beam for the win.

Minbari and Drakh are mid-late game races. Once they get their racial gear setup, they've got ships that easilly one on one exceed other races. Neutron Beam Laser for the win..

Of course, by the extremely late game, all sides tend to balance out more and become equal again. Oh, and the Ancient races? You're AWESOME the extremely late game, where everyone else is ALMOST on your level. Your ships will ALWAYS win on a 1v3 probably. And darnit, Shadow molecular slicers are too good. :)

What about the issue I pointed out earlier? How can we run a 5k racial points game without modifying stuff when all of the .emp files are built on 2k?

Whops... well, I think 2k empires will be fine unless we want to fully customize our races.

I vote for 2k empires and no customization.

I'll take the Vree.

Looks like the Drazi and Vree are taken. What other race is good for someone who knows nothing about B5?

The Bakiri, Pak'na'mra and Dilgar are fine races. I've only had experience with the Bakiri, and they've got fairly big ships, and a good mix of early-medium technologies.

One question for whoever wants to be Drazi that is so crucial that it MUST be answered: Are you GREEN or are you PURPLE?

Oddly enough, when I tried to start up a game with the Drazi real quick to see what color they are in the game, I got the Vorlons. It's not like I somehow mis-clicked. In my version of the B5 mod, clicking on the Drazi gets you the Vorlons. :wtf:

*shrugs* I guess. No big deal. The Vree work fine for me, and I like the look of the guys, as well as how their racial points are distributed.

So when are we starting?

Here's an idea you guys may or may not like: As of today we'll probably be back to 1 turn a day on the ST game. Since I work in the school district and have the next week and a half or so off, I'm perfectly OK with playing two different games that each do 1 turn a day or more, but when I have to go back to work, that's not necessarily such a great arrangement, and I don't know about others, but I would feel bad if I were consistently the last person to submit my turn, so I would probably take the turn a day on both games even if I didn't really want to. Since I doubt I'm the only one in this boat, I propose that we set the B5 game to timed turns only mode after New Years, perhaps every 48 hours. That means that the turn would execute every 48 hours, even if everyone's turn is in.

Good idea. You don't have to worry though when exams/midterms/assignments come in for me I'll be taking turns every 3 days and I won't be guilty for it :D.

Anyway I am waiting on Uraniun235 (you wanted EA?) I will join last, but since we have a Vorlon we might need a Shadow. I'd play either Shadows or Centauri, I wish we had one more player so we could fill both Shadows and Centauri, a Narn without a Centauri is like bread without butter.

Hm, switch to Centauri and start up a new RP flame war with Dalton...truly tempting, but no, I'm sure he'd crush me, plus barely knowing anything about B5 wouldn't help.

Centari? Space Eastern Europeans with a lost empire complex. They dress as extravagantly as possible. Men with hair like black peacocks. Women bald. They've got 50+ god Pantheon, and used to rule half known space (over the other newer races, cept Minbari). They look identical to humans, except for tentacles as male reproductive organs under their armpits. Oh. Think of them as Space Italian-Romans.

There. Centauri-in-a-minute.

Yeah actually you shouldn't worry about the RP Trogdor. If you went Centauri there's always a chance to enslave the Narns lol... it's not like I know anything more about B5 than what I remember from when I was... 14? lol.

...if you want you can be Shadows Nephtys, I know enough about Minbari to RP them =D. I think. Bone headed freaks who think they have manifest destiny and a third of their population dedicated to war? loveable.
