Zelda: TP to have Revolution support

Post by Dooey Jo »

And will be released in time for next X-mas, just like Revolution itself.

Says zeldalegends's source.
Revolution gets Twilight Princess
Plus, NGC reveals UK launch date for Nintendo's new console

[22/12/2005 13:02]

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will be playable on Nintendo's Revolution and will be released close to the console's launch date in the UK - which is confirmed as arriving in late 2006 - according to an exclusive news scoop in the latest issue of NGC.

While also still set for release on GameCube, the new Zelda adventure will contain special features enabling players to make use of Revolution's controller, so when the disc is inserted into Revolution it will give the player the option to use the next-gen console's radical device.

For more information on this superb news, such as how Twilight Princess will exploit Revolution's TV remote-styled peripheral, pick up the January issue of NGC, which is on sale now.
Some dude scanned the articles so you can read them if you feel like it (though it might be illegal...). But it's mostly just a bunch of pictures from the game and speculation what the controller might used for (everything, it seems) and how (like we saw in the Revolution "trailer", it seems).

Also, NGC got this information "exclusively", and apparently without further sources. I couldn't find even one in that text, anyhow.
So, whatcha think?

I'm thinking that it's bullshit, especially if they're going to use the rev-controller for everything in the game. It would be a heartily "fuck you and your mommas" to all GC owners who have waited for this game, because when they finally get it, they're getting some watered down version that's actually supposed to be played on Revolution. Of course, it'd be fine if you just got some special object that you could use with the new controller. But to make it actually significantly affect the game play, just so you could have it as a "true" (since it's already backwards compatible) launch title for Revolution would not be good. Better then to make a whole new game that is actually designed with the controller in mind from the start, and release TP the way it was intended.

Also, the thought that I would have to wait another fucking year to play this game is not making me very happy at all. No, I want to see the actual quotes that NGC got (if they exist), and see how much they distorted them to sell more magazines.

I think you're getting a little worked up over something that hasn't been fleshed out yet. I remember the game boy colour Zeldas having special shops that could only be accessed by playing the game with a GBA. It doesn't surprise me at all their putting some unlockable features for their next big thing, I wouldn't make a big deal out of it based on magazine hyperbole until you know what it is Nintendo are actually planning to do.

No idea about that, but hey game's get delayed sometimes. Can't say I'm happy about it but I wouldn't want to play a bugged piece of crap yadayadayada.

It would be awesome if it could use the Rev controller but IMHO Nintendo would be stupid to wait that long to release it.

Also, I distrust any non-official magazine (in the case of Nintendo, that means anything but Nintendo Power) claiming to have exclusive info on the Revolution, as Nintendo is EXTREMELY careful about giving out info. I remember the last one.

GameInformer: "We have sources in Nintendo who have given us the secret of the controller. The Revolution's controller is, in fact, a touch screen." I still have that issue so I can laugh at it every once in a while.

That sounds like a deliberate joke, Praxis.

NGC has a habit of taking gossip and speculation and running with it. There's usually a nugget of truth in it, but don't take it as gospel.

Nope. It was right around E3 2005. They even started saying how it the Revolution's customizable touch screen interface would give it an edge over the competition, etc, etc. And it was part of a serious article about next gen systems that had screenshots of Oblivion and was talking about the known facts of each system.

A few months later GameInformer also published one of the rumored specs as fact too.

That's the kind of thing I think they might put in; maybe some item like the Tingle Tuner from tWW (which I was never able to use, but it didn't affect game play much from what heard), or a few new minigames. But I think NGC's speculations are pure bullshit, because what they're talking about would effectively make a completely different game.

Bah, the game was "finished", the developers just wanted more time to add more content. If making some small thing that will only work on Revolution anyway is what's taking all that time then I think it's a waste. They can always release a special edition later; like Ura Zelda/Master Quest...

Hey, BTW, didn't Nintendo say that they wouldn't release any more information about Revolution until 2006? If that's true, then how come they told NGC about its release date? Someone's not telling the whole truth here...
