Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil problem

Okay, I decided to cash in on the $15 gift card I had at EB, and pretty much all I could buy was the Doom 3 Expansion. So I patched the original game to 1.2, which came with the expansion, installed the expansion, and everything went off without a hitch.

The problem is, once I start the game, it asks me to re-enter my Doom 3 cd key, which now doesn't work, though it did before I updated to version 1.2. So I can't play either Doom 3 or the expansion anymore. Any ideas?

Does the expansion come with a CD key? It might be hidden away somewhere in the manual.

If that doesn't work try calling tech support.

Also did the game come prepackaged with everything all ready in it or did they have to go into the back and put the stuff in an empty box like they do at gamestop. The Gamestop by me is notorious for forgetting to put manuals(which sometimes include the CD key) into the box

Yeah, in both the original and the expansion it's on the CD case. I tried it in version 1.3, didn't work either. The guy at Activision said that they won't give out another CD key, no matter what. This is starting to drive me crazy...

Did you try uninstall reinstall?

Yeah, didn't work. In the end I just followed the directions from some website, backed-up the .pk4 files and deleted a few things from them. Messes up the main menu, but at least the game works now. I did pay for it after all...
