Is there any programs like WinISO?

Post by Enigma »

I want to make backups of a few games that I want preserved in case the originals get fubared and as far as I know that in Canada it is legal to make backup copies of games.

I use WinIso but it doesn't make a good rip since it constantly gets error messages from the disc. Same with Nero. Is there a program that lets you make a copy?

Mind you this is on the up and up.

You may want to look into Alcohol 120%. I've never used it myself but I hear good things about it compared to something like Nero for making disc images of games.

Alcohol 120% is indeed what you want, and it can defeat many copy-protection mechanisms (which cause programs like WinISO fits).

Newer games can only be copied with Alcohol + slow reading and burning speed + getting lucky with recorder compatibility (Plextor rules here as always) + special settings in Alcohol.

Honestly, it would probably be easier to download a working image from the usual suspects/places, however stupid that is if you own the game legaly.
