The Protoss Empire vs the Dominion

100 years before the coming of the Terran exiles, the Protoss notice a wormhole has opened in their territory. They dispatch a probe through it.

At the same time, 1 year before the Dominion crosses in the Alpha Quadrant, they find a wormhole...leading straight into the Protoss Empire. They prepare their invasion fleet and attempt to annex the Empire.

Who is the victor?

Protoss. There even if there BDZ took several hours they still have a big firepower advantage. Ground combat would be another slaughter of Trek.

I think the Protoss win outmatch the dominion in every battle, but they may lack the numerial advantage to kill all those jen'hadar morons quickly enough, if they can use their technical advantage to cancel that one weakness out, the Protoss tears them to shreds.

The Protoss several hundred worlds at the least, they should be able to deploy sufficient tonnage.

Ground Combat they'll crush them utterly. StarCraft ground forces are very high-quality (Though not the best by a long shot). Space Combat is a bit less certain but I suspect Mind-Control is going to play havok with the Founders and wind up with a lot of traitors fast. Be amusing to see a single Dark Templar taking apart squadron after squadron of Jem'Hadar as well.

Anyway, the protoss have a large technological advantage over the Dominion, i.e. Arbiters that can open a temporary wormhole, carriers that would simply tear any Dominion ship to pieces, and well armed, well trained ground forces that utilize telekintetic powers ( High Templar).
Not to mention the coolness factor......

He need not have worried. The Protoss were completely intent on the diseased planet beneath them. Hatchways opened up in the bottoms of the larger ships, and great beams of energy, so intense as to be colorless, lanced downward toward the surface. The aliens laid down a withering barrage against the planet beneath. Where the energy beams struck, they burned. The sky itself curdled as the beams pirced through the atmospheric envlope. Air itself was torn away from the planet by the force of the blows. And where the Beams struck the surface, they erupted, boiling the ground where they struck, uprooting both the creep-infested lands and those that had not yet been infecte. Deadly rainbow radiation, more brilliant that Mike had ever seen, spiraled out from the impact points, churning earth and water mercilessly, distorting the matter of the planet itself.

Then other ships began firing thinner beams with surgical accuracy, adding to the barrage in places. The cities, Mike realized, They were targeting the cities and making sure that nothing could survive there. Any place of human settlement, including, he knew, the Jacobs Installation itself.

They had cut their timing very close indeed, he thought, and his stomach gave an uneasy lurch.

One of the pulsating beams punched through the crust itself, and the ground erupted in a volcanic upwelling. Magma pushed to the surface, consuming everything that had been uprooted by the energy beams. Most of the world's atmosphere was burning now, torn away from the orb in a veil that trailed it in orbit, and what was left spiraled in hurricanes and tornadoes, until destroyed by more beams. Now, red volcanic glows covered the northern hemisphere of Mar Sara like welts. The remainder of the land heaved in a deadly rainbow. Nothing could survive the assault, human or otherwise.

Well, I know from the game that it said it took 50 Protoss warships to do a BDZ, but it didn't specify how long it took.

Base Delta Zero.

Basically, it's the Imperial(SW) term for usiing ships to blast a planet from orbit. Typically used here and at SpaceBattles as a term for the act itself.

Exterminatus: term used by the Empire of Man to describe the "burning of a planet". Effectively similar to a Base Delta Zero operation (obliteration of all life potential), but Exterminatus can be accomplished by many menas: cyclotronic torpedos, bio-weapons, etc.

Maybe it would be best to reword as "lack of serious knowledge about Star Wars."

BDZs are never referred to in the movies or in the directly ancillary literature, so it makes sense that casual fans would not know about it.

Although, as serious fans here we take pride in having a comprehensive knowledge of Star Wars terminology.

If Protoss are capable of BDZ operations, and by all account they are, the Dominion might have a hard time in ship-to-ship combat. And the thought of the idiotic Dominion troops trying to engage the expansive 'Protosian' (just thought that up) ground forces, plus their air support, is a joke.
