I'm pretty happy with my starting position and am a bit reluctant to throw the dice again. However, I know I'd be annoyed if one player's objection barred me from joining a game. So if the rest of you agree, then I will, too.

Who knows you could get better next time around.
I guess, Thursday January 5th 22:00 EST (GMT -5).
We should try and get the ST Mod game running daily again now that holidays are over, or at least every two days.
Of course if anybody is willing to take over administrative duties over the two games, they could boss people all they wanted . Plus you get my thinking cap and unlimited evening phone calls. While supplies last.

Brian, at 10 o'clock on thursday I'll be in a little house that doesn't even have cable, let alone a working internet connection.

Trog, Yeah 5th to the 8th.. that's okay, both games will be on ALPU until you get back. You've been very good at submitting your turns early and since you've been a good boy Santa's giving you your Christmas present. As long as none of the elves are too pissed about not playing at full speed until Monday.
I'm still looking for one good soul to take over administration for me. Pretty please? .
Old B5 game is still on.

You can leave the B5 game on automatic if the "elves" get pissed. I should only miss one turn, and there's no way that the AI could really fuck me over so early in the game. I can think of any number of ways the AI could ruin me in the ST game, though.brianeyci wrote:Trog, Yeah 5th to the 8th.. that's okay, both games will be on ALPU until you get back. Thanks for putting up with the wait, everybody. I should be leaving shortly before the next turn is executed, but if I'm delayed or the current turn gets done early, I'll try and do it before I leave.
Well, I'm off to take my first stab at B5 RP. I intend to twist the plot a bit to help fit it into the context of the game, but if I have someone acting hugely OOC or get something really wrong, just tell me and I'll fix it.

Nice work Trogs, I can practically hear Peter Jurasik delivering those lines.

Yes, awesome Trogdor it sounds great.
Anyway so whatever RP guidelines I guess will be worked out as it goes along. Neph seems to be taking pre-Minbari war Minbari, Trogdor taking late fourth season Centauri, Uraniun235 some proto-EA. Good, good stuff, better loose than a whole bunch of rules dictating what people can and can't do.

As you all know, I'm the new administrator, which means 3 things:
1. Respect mah authoritah!
2. We're moving to timed turns only with a duration of 48 hours. Timed turns only means that it executes every 48 hours, even if everyone has submitted his/her turn. Why do it this way? By offsetting the due date for the two games by one day, it guarantees that people in both games get to take one, and exactly one turn each day. There will never be a day without a turn, and everyone will always know exactly when the turn is going to be due. It sets the pacing of new turns to be just right, in my view.
Of course, since the B5 game is just getting started, I'll execute it faster than that if everyone submits multiple turns a day, but once that game gets going it'll be left on time turns only.
3. As far as rolling back turns if someone misses, the default answer is no, unless that person gives advanced notice. In my view, not having time to take 15-45 minutes for a turn or not having access to one's primary computer for 48 hours is understandable, but not taking 2 minutes to tell us about it isn't.
Other than that, things will more or less roll along the same way they've been going. Also posted in the other thread.

Agreed. Turn executed.
Due date for the next turn is still the same (Jan. 9/10 at midnight GMT).

Whops looks like I was a moron when I created the B5 game and set the version to 1.94 instead of 1.91. After the thing says "execution failed" you can download the turn files and process manually, and bug the PBW admin to change the version to 1.91 + Babylon 5 Mod 1.8 instead of 1.94.
<edit>It's going to take awhile for the thing to say turn execution failed, maybe 30 min at least from my previous experience so dont' hold your breath.</edit>

Holy crap. Interesting tidbit here: I was wondering why the Narn are so hideously ahead in most 'score' and especially research, and looked at their default race file. It's... very different from everyone else's. -50 strength, -50 trade, +research and +maintenance.
That's pretty odd. Most games that use that kind of starting setup give most races that. Huh. At least their tech tree isn't particularly strong late game, so it's pretty balanced.

Dalton will be happy. I'm missing his posts. Come back.
Raiders seem to have nothing but Particle Beam VIII, and they don't have point-defense. The only good thing about them are fighters and tier 1 boarding parties. I won't stand a chance against the main races unless I hideously out-expand them. Hehe I like a challenge.
