No its not the Winy Luke
Hmmm, not the Whiny Luke? That makes the race alot closer then as Luke was not a half-bad mechanic (takes after his father?)

I think that I'll still have to give it to Team TOS if only because it comes down to the scavenging. Kirk is just luckier than any person has the right to be and I stand by my torn-shirt assessment. Besides, Kirk should be extra motivated knowing Kathy Rogers is on the other side waiting to award him the Junkyard Trophy...

Garibaldi is quite resourceful, as is Sheridan but you right no real Engineers here
Yeah, these guys are resourceful alright but I think the best they could do is prolong the suffering for a few agonizing seconds. Since their death is assured, I want to sub out Ivanova for what's-her-name that replaced her.

With Kirk (arguably the luckiest being in the known sci-fi universe) scavenging, he is bound to find just the parts that Scotty and Spock need. If he tears his shirt during his searching, then you KNOW he is going to win despite the odds. Poor Sulu is little more than dead weight - unless the device they build needs to be driven... unfortunately for him, most everything Scotty/Spock did was some variant on the tricorder - the swiss army knife of the Federation..

Yes this team has several good members and would get out but would they get out faster than the others
I think Team SW would ultimately go for a brute-force approach that would be effective enough but would eat up valuable time in the doing.
Team TOS would probably go for a finesse approach - cobbling together a crude tricorder like device that could emulate the door locking mechanism dropping the magnetic seal as well as opening the door - all thanks to that little scrap of paper that Sanitation Engr Lebowitz threw away with the access codes that Kirk turned up after tearing his shirt after a roll with the trash monster.

They would get the door open quickly enough, but knowing them the machine would burn out in the process. If we're only doing a single run, they cinch it. Drop them back in for a second heat and they may as well be red-shirts!
