Be afraid, be very afraid
Wanking aside, is there any widespread computer monitor that can actully utilise all that power? I mean... 8X Temporal Antialiasing with 16AF running F.E.A.R Soft Shadows at 100FPS would be cool, in a fapish sort of way but THIS?!

I don't think its up to it.Uraniun235 wrote:Jesus Christ, it's the Son of Voodoo 6000!
I cringe to think of all the power that such a configuration would use. That kilowatt power supply that PC Power & Cooling put out isn't looking quite as insane any more...
We're talking 4 PCI-E plugs, 2 SATA plugs, uh... I'm not sure where the CPU HSF is plugged into. I saw atleast 2 optical drives and a card reader, another 3 molexs, theres the 24 pin mobo connector, 8 pin CPU connector, uh...secondary power to the motherboard. We're rapidly running out of connectors.

I think that monster of a card/s is going to be powered by its own power adapter. There is ample precedent for that sort of thing, and on the pictures there is a connector that is either s-video out or a plug for such an adapter.Uraniun235 wrote:Jesus Christ, it's the Son of Voodoo 6000!

But this baby has a S-Video, but there is a weird plug on the 2nd card of each set...

Maybe, just maybe?Dell is also a leader in computer displays, and he showed off a new 30-inch LCD monitor, the Dell UltraSharp 3007WFP, that he is particularly proud of. Dell proclaimed that the monitor has "over three times the resolution of so-called 'high-def gaming' that comes with an Xbox 360."
The monitor requires graphic cards that support dual-link DVI connectivity for its top-tier output. The display supports resolutions up to 2560x1600, can display 4.1 million megapixels, and has a 700:1 contrast ratio and a 178-degree viewing angle.
The monitor will be priced at $2,199 and is available now.
