Despite the protestations of Traffic Control, the vessel's course continued unerringly. The ICS Stropworth Wanderer's transmissions had ceased as soon as the prime number response had arrived, leaving the Quelectin in the dark as to the vessel's intentions.
The language database's comms went on for quite some time, blasting the incoming vessel with a series of phrases from a thousand languages, dead and living. The reponse was immediate.
Readings began to fluctuate wildly, as the ground-based sensors on Shearwater began to detect bizzarre anomolies as to the nature of the incoming vessels. Mass detectors read wildly different from second to second, as if the vessel was gaining and losing density and volume, even as the visual sensors and gravity detectors read no change. Other devices read that the ship was literally propelled by what read as a liquid fuel rocket, yet it was pulling an acceleration which compared favorably to a Silver Flame vessel of similar size.
"Marshal-General, we are detecting a sizable power spike from the vessel, however, we are recieving no further communications. We've plotted it's trajectory- it's decellerating, and it's heading towards the planet."
"Where, precisely, on the planet is it heading?"
The quelectin lieutenant looked at his superior.
"Right here, sir. The vessel is heading right for this facility."

Captain Uqlutik Uneq'Rykrizib looked slowly at the officer behind him, Sublieutenant Ryqas. Although inexperienced, Syituiba had felt that someone who had actually studied at an academy to learn xenobiology might be useful for a first contact mission.
"This is 1.6 Gravities? How do they move, let alone live?" Syituiba muttered.
"Actually, this is a bit over 1.3 Monau-Ra Gees. We're slowly gaining so that we can acclimitize better. Don't you use the gym at high gees?" he said.
The tall female kept a dignified silence despite the uncomfortable gravity. She had a point, it did feel terrible even to him. She was also from a smaller world. Uqlutik started to say something in apology, but before he could start he was cut off by Lieutenant Afadj.
"Approaching the designated landing area, honored captain," he said.
Uqlutik didn't believe the servile attitude at all. He'd been a Destroyer Captain too long to think that anybody followed an inch of protocol outside of the major worlds. But as both the mandated member of the Imperial Family onboard the diplomatic party and the ship's Imperial Security Overseer Officer, Afadj probably had 2 seperate forms he could fill out to kill his superiors had he the need. It would be dangerous not to invite him, though.
And on that happy note, the shuttle clanged to a halt.

Concord Vessel Ganymede // Unknown Foreign Starship Ganimid
The four Khar stepped off the vessel, the tallest one in the rear having to duck to avoid slamming into the bulkhead at the top of the hatch seperating the Khar Shuttle from the larger Concord ship.
One of them turned a helmeted head to the other, and presumably said something unheard over a comm. The Khar at the front reached up hesitantly, and removed the helmet. The other three did likewise, and then to the slight suprise of onlookers quickly removed their skinsuits right there to reveal military uniforms below.
-//Switch-Perspective//--Access=MissionRecordingGanymede:Captain//
Uqlutik smoothed his uniform absently, the black fabric nearly as dark as his purple feathers and eyes. He thought about holding his wing-stubs rigid, but gave a mental shrug. According to what little he learned of xenobiology, humans and most other species with more flexible faces used facial expressions and wouldn't be able to tell what he was thinking. It would be better to keep his concentration on what he was going to say.
The Khar Captain started to wonder who he was to speak to. He settled on just facing the middle of the passage and hoping it was close enough to cause their leader to think he was being specifically picked out.
"We greet you, honored hosts, as representatives-" he checked himself, and glanced meaningfully at the Lieutenant from the Imperial Family's clan possessions. "Well... we greet you as representatives of Clan Nirtnal. I am sure that our meeting here will be productive to both parties."
Lieutenant Afadj and he exchanged a few quick words in the Holy Tongue, and then he turned back to the host, or rather the corridor which he hoped was close to the host. "Naturally, confirmation of anything besides relations with our Clan must wait to confirm it with the Holy And Exalted Emperor Of The Universe, May The Gods Bless His Beneficience."
He mentally kicked himself over that last sentence and cursed the Lieutenant and his need for protocol even in a dangerous situation, but most of all he just hoped his beaked face had eeked out something understandable in the spitty, unpronouncable tongue made for Primate-Derivatives called Galstandard West.

USMV Constellation, on Exploration Patrol
Constellation was one of the United Stations' many frigates on long-range exploration patrol. The duty was generally boring - mapping out and surveying new systems - with the occasional bout of excitement, usually involving the destruction of some pirate base with her surface-bombardment missiles. Frigates generally travelled alone while on patrol. The classic emphasis of sensors, firepower and strategic speed were expected to allow such ships to avoid or outrun anything that outgunned them ... in theory.
The ESM systems had detected artificial emanations outbound - many signals. The skilled crews had managed to sort out the transmissions into several distinct groups but as of yet the computers and analysts were unable to decipher the encoding and transmission schemes used. It was all hash.
Colonel Rachel Autumn, the ship's commanding officer, decided to send out reconnaisance craft to take a closer look, and so a pair of heavy fighters loaded with reconnaisance pods rocketed out towards the strange cluster of contacts ...

The Captain introduced himself to the Khar and Pfhor and exchanged the usual pleasantries.
"Ok, for those of you just arriving, welcome aboard the Ganymede. My name is Captain Jonas Treia. While we wait for everyone to arrive if you'd all like to follow Lieutenant Callen through to our forward observation deck we'll be serving light refreshments before we finish preparing for tonight's dinner. Again, thank you all for coming."
"This way, please." The yellow eyed woman spoke. She lead them through a corridor, past a number of security hatches into a large room which appeared to serve as some scientific purpose in astral navigation. Uncharacteristically large windows and equipment of varying description were neatly stacked under them. For now this room had been modified into a dining area.
The visible bulkheads in the previous corridor formed a rib cage effect that's not as obvious from the outside. The interrior of the ship was tidy and professional, without seeming too cold and unforgiving. The crew were ever colourful, it seemed as thoughy every description of species had some form of representation. Around half the crew were human.
Callen revealed that the Ganymede was a Conrad class Cruiser, one of only a few still being operated by Concord.
The Captain waited outside the docking corridor for the rest of the guests to arrive.

The Air-Mage and his officers followed the strange woman through the ship. It certainly wasn't the way Falau'un would build or decorate ships. And the idea of other species serving a ship was even slightly revolting. This humans were close enough to Falau'un to be acceptable, but this completely strange alien species were another matter. But, he spuspected, times were changing.
<<I detect a slight disturbance in the long-range sensors, extreme range," the ship whispered into the Air-Mage's mind.
<<Send a reconnaissance probe out,>> he ordered.
"Interesting ship design you have here, Lieutenant," thr Air-Mage then said to their guide, to avoid silence for the walk. He hated unnecessary silence.

"Concord manages both defense and security for a large number of worlds throughout our known region. Our vessels are often tasked with a wide variety of roles besides those of conventional military. Our designs reflect this, to a degree." The Lt didn't seem as cordial as her Captain. It was difficult to tell if her seeming lack of emotion was to do with her species or just her.

"Well," the Air-Mage looked around, "it seems a bit too...colourful for our liking. But then again, we seem to come from a differen traditional mindset. It is always a strange experience to meet other people, when they have different ideas to do things. From the other guests, this might be a very interesting dinner..."

Ship-Master Kravold grumbled through the shipboard mindlink to his crew.
"Negotiator Sispesis, answer the hail courteously if you please. You're the most tactful of us."
Sispesis nodded beneath his thick vac-suit and opened a tight-beam channel to the Avalonian ship.
"This is the ASCN Interdiction Cruiser Merran'kai'tria. On behalf of the free worlds of the Aurane Sector Coalition, I greet you. "
Sispesis sounded quite charismatic and charming, true to his training.
The rest of the patrol flotilla drew in tighter, overlapping point defenses and raising shields. First contact procedure for the ASCN was admittedly paranoid, but with good reason. It had too many run ins with hostile aliens and fragmented human nations that appeared friendly at first glance. The Kai'tria waited for a response from the Avalonian ship.

Despite the fact that the Celeritas' bridge was placed near the heart of the vessel, holographic monitors laced throughout the interior surface of the bridge allowed the captain and bridge crew to observe what occured outside with crystal clarity, as if there was no hull to obscure their view. Through the display, the Captain of the Celeritas saw the alien patrol shift into a defensive formation.
Through an interface panel on his chair, he wordlessly queryed the science and tactical stations for analysis. Science immediately responded that they had errected energy shields, but had not made any observable preparations to fight or flee. A heartbeat later, tactical reported that small weapons emplacements, most likely point-defense weapons, had become active and seconded the science departments conclusion. The aliens had taken no action that an Avalonian Captain in the same place wouldn't have done, were it not the fact that such defensive systems were always kept online. He nodded to the communications officer and responded with a direct neutral tone.
"Merran'kai'tria, this is the Avalonian League vessel Celeritas. You are within the five lightyear patrol perimeter of an Avalonian world. State your purpose."

Ship-Master Kravold mentally prodded his crew, and the surrounding flotilla, to lower their velocity and change to a neutral heading. Negotiator Sispesis again began speaking.
"This is peaceful survey and patrol expedition, Celeritas. We are not looking for trouble, merely prepared for it. We will of course obey your territorial boundaries. Our flotilla has changed course and is now headed away from your planetary border. "
Kravold turned his head towards his Negotiator slightly and spoke through the mindlink.
"What is he planning, Sispesis?"
"Nothing. His verbal communication was neutral, and didn't betray anything. I think the situation is as plain as it appears."
Kravold thought for a moment. "No matter, we keep the shields up and stay in defensive formation. Just in case. I will contact ASCN High Command and request instructions. First contact procedure, of course."
Sispesis spoke again to the Avalonian vessel. "Due to this being a First Contact situation, we are requesting input from our naval High Command. Until then procedure dictates that we cease communication until High Command contacts us. "

"We understand. Should your High Council require further contact with the Avalonian League, a vessel will be deploying a communications relay satellite approximately ten lightyears from this position, at the following stellar coordinates."
A holographic representation of the coordinates shimmered into existance in front of the communications officer. She quickly checked it for errors, then nodded to the Celeritas' Captain and transmitted the coordinates.

Aboard the alien starship Ganymede...
The three officers from the Gaian Compact waited, wandering carefully and examining what they were allowed aboard the Concord vessel. Intrigued by the dozens of nations gathering here at this impromptu summit.
"To think coincidence brings all these people together..." Commander Northbloom says, noting the plentiful human and near-humans attending, as well as the few alien beings. She keeps her head up, hands cradling her sleek helmet.
All seemed to possess a mixture of strange ships, typically primitive and perhaps dangerously so in the case of some. With barely any understanding of what powers they harnessed. Standing near where the Khar representatives walked, she rolled her eyes reactively at his praising of his emperor, and 'gods'.
~Be diplomatic, Makina.~ A voice whispered to her. She quickly corrected herself. Murmuring back to the voice, she looked around to avoid appearing as an insane woman, speaking to herself in a hushed tone. "Avatar, please. I... can handle these things." she quiets up, head turning to speak to her companions nonchelantly as the Khar moved by. This was not the time for momentary indiscretions to cause an interstellar incident.
"Morrownoon! Ahem. Record environmental conditions, and notify me if there's anything to worry about, coming from this... menagerie..." she says in a stiff-lipped manner. Something was unsettling about this collection of peoples. Her second nodded and flanked by, eyes upon floating hologram screens.
Makina then shifts in place to turn, hearing the Concord officers speak of the near-human Falau'un entering, wearing their silly cloaks and collar.
"So you must be the one who sent me that message. I assume you're Commander of Thunder?"
Makina moves close, interested by the alien. She frowned to herself for but a moment. This was like attending a costume ball! These surely could not have been starship captains in such silly, impractical garb. Why, half of their uniforms didn't even appear vacuum-sealed...

(ooc: Nephtys, I assume we happen to be in the room we have been brought to? )
The Air-Mage looked at the strange human in obscure clothing. He eyed the lot of them, and found the wearing of protective suits and such funny. What need would there be if one could simply create a protective barrier around oneself?
<<Don't forget,>> the ship whispered in his mind, <<most of these people are blind to magic and know nothing of it.>>
He shook his head slightly in what could be considered amused disgust. Blind to magic... A sad life it must be...
He tried to read the mind of the human, but his probing was obscured by another presence.
"So I am," he replied, speaking carefully in this strange language, galactic standard. "What can I do for you?"

“I want that fleet hear now” barked the Marshal-General
“Sir it is still and hour away at maximum speed, the alien ship will be hear long before then” yelped a tactical officer.
“What kind of defense assists do we have then” Asked the Coldrock
“The only things in system with guns is a squadron of Guardian Class fighters”
“What! No armed merchants nothing.”
“No sir, we are on our own until the fleet arrives”
“Very well launch those fighters, deploy them as a screen between us and this incoming ship. But any pilot who fires with out my direct authorization will answer to me”.
"Changed what we are transmitting, tell then that if they don’t stop closing on this planet we will open fire" Ordered the Marshal-General
"Orders sent", replayed the com officer
Moments later the squadron of Guardian fighters lifted of from there dirt side run way and streaked in to orbit. They took up position directly in the path of the incoming ship and waited.

The vessel's course continued unerringly, engines straining even harder with the sudden urgency of their mission as the new obstacles sprung into place, unexpectedly, between it and it's goal. Sensors groundside registered a sudden spike of even greater energy from the onrushing starship.
The transmissions from the planetary defense center elicited no reply on the communication instruments the quelectin trained on the Crobuzoner clipper.

OOC: The Lesser Library being the primary repository of knowledge for the silver flame has a much larger number of languages on file than Shearwater dose. It will likely do nothing but I thought it would be in character to try.
“I will not be responsible for starting a war” shouted Coldrock “Enter the military override codes in to the ORC transmitters I want a total link up with the Lesser Libraries langue data base, we might just get lucky”.
“But sir” said a com officer “That scale of link up would cost most of our annual budget”.
“Which do you think is more important, this world, ever one it and the archeological dig or a few Argentum. Now create the link up and transmit the following message using the Lesser Libraries langue data base. “The Silver Flame commands you to stop, and leave our space at once. Or your ship will be fired upon” got that”
“Yes sir, up link establishing now”
A few seconds past in silence

Such a menu appears to be satisfactory towards Khar biochemistry/biology, but be noted that our party will be unable to eat the items highlighted here (Enclosed Attachment) because they are either plant-related objects we are unable to consume or contain too much "Fiber", either of which are not fatal but produce rather unpleasant digestive tract effects.

Captain Uqlutik looked around him at all the alien races, including the Concord Crew and its myriad of shapes. He was comfortable around Phfor, at least as comfortable as one could be next to a Nevariyutib, but he could at least be certain a bog-standard Phfor would never attack him without filling out the forms with his superiors in triplicate and then creating a ministry to study how much he would be worth alive.
Halfway to distract himself from the vaguely threatening air of Un-Khar-ness, and halfway because of curiousness, he turned to the Captain of the Concord Vessel who had so graciously revealed himsel.
"By my count of what I have seen, no less than half of your vessel is composed of non-Humans. How do you keep so many enslaved upon a single ship and not fear mutiny?" he asked.
Perhaps he'd learn something new that would benefit the entire Imperium. He could almost feel the High Captain's insignia on his collar and a Battleship's command chair.

The blocky Freehold shuttle set down on the deck of the Ganymede's shuttle bay with a gentle thump, and the loading ramp unfolded. The shuttle was a mottled gray-black box with engines on, and the diplomat that bounded down the ramp was no more aesthetically pleasing. He was a thick-bodied creature with green-gray skin and heavy features, wearing a field gray pressure suit adorned with dozens of pockets--the standard issue for the Freehold navy, as he didn't see any reason to get all 'tarted up' for a simple meeting.
"Oy now, 'ello!" he fairly bellowed, casting his eyes around the bay. He finally settled on Captain Treia and strolled up to him, sticking out a hand. "Give us your 'and, then."
Jonas grasped the Orc's hand and shook it. He started to say, "I am Captain--"
But the Orc interrupted him with a wink, "You can do better'n that, lay down a bit've muscle behind 'er."
Jonas blinked, then sensed this was some kind of test and squeezed as hard as he dared.
"There's a lad!" the Orc grinned and released Jonas. "My name and rank is Lieutenant Commander Erek Orgarin. The men upstairs 'aven't seen fit to give us naval officers plenipotentiary powers, so I'm afraid I won't be signing any treaties, as such, but we'll try to 'ave a laugh anyway."

"And that's quite alright," Jonas chuckled "Concord's not really a country. Some people back home might get a little upset if I started proposing..." A sudden moment of realisation hits Jonas. "...oh shit. You don't think the others are expecting..."
The silver skinned creature standing next to him blinked twice, probably the closest his species ever came to snickering.

J'wro was uneasy at the table. With a plethora of uncomfortably alien species around him, he felt like something of a fool considering his job description. Part of him, it had to be said, itched to be observing the scene from a remote drone and writing a report after the fact. The crypto/diplo team huddled together near the back of the room, grinning at the bizarre surroundings. That was just as well, actually; they probably looked quite fierce. Hopefully. He angled one bank of eyes towards the Khar delegation. Something there seemed to stir memories of xenobiological briefings some years ago, but he couldn't put his finger on it.LPGNN Khrve- Medical wrote:Inter-ship tightbeam

Perusal of nutritional information reveals no ingredient actively lethal to Pfhor. Mediator J'wro (Complected) has been informed as to which items he should avoid.

"Analysis of spatial and signal traffic on the outer reaches indicates not only that the sources are not Custodian, they originate from two different organizations. Not only have aliens been discovered, two distinct groups of them were found in rapid succession. Considering the ease with which we found them, it is only a matter of time before they find us. I recommend an active approach; make contact immediately in order to seem capable and confident. To that end I ask for a cruiser squadron to be sent in the direction of each contact and ping their communications networks. Without knowing exactly what is out there we'll have to improvise from there. "

The requested ships were duly dispatched, and anyone in the Khar Imperium or Avalonian League who cared to watch would see the unmistakable sign of approaching FTL drives.

Stamp: Urgent.
Timestamp 231947U, an anomalous FTL reading that is evident of non-Khar transit has been detected heading toward the system and, based upon the speed detected, is extremely close and could be translating at any minute.
A similar reading was detected in the Dryu-Nai'ib-Oeq-Dryu Senkrad Communication Medium, broadcasting repetition of prime numbers. The signal was evident for quite a long period of time, relatively, but has only been detected due to oversights in the maintainance of the planetary sensor net (Forwarded To Mechanical//Comms Department [...]).
All military vessels in system are immediately ordered to undertake Status Red\\Battle Stations at the first opportunity except to keep weaponry and shields unpowered beyond Status Yellow\\Alert.
The following Clan Ryefrau vessels are ordered to initiate first contact and not translate upon their patrol route under penalty of Imperial oversight:
LKLR Inexorable Fury, LKLR Merciful Evisceration (Patrol Fleet 4 Flagship), LKLR Solemn Piety, LKLR Unstoppable Assault.
High Captain Kitana Byeq'Serairau's temporary promotion to facilitate central leadership of the destroyer squadron is confirmed and will remain under return to Clanfleet Ryefrau where it will be evaluated.

The Captain sighed as he read the message. More subterfuge. He was just about to ask Sublieutenant Ryqas what he knew about the Pfhor when he saw something that chilled his blood. Or rather, he didn't see something. Where was Sublieutenant Ryqas? He found the eager young diplomat walking over towards the Phfor delegation.FTL Communique wrote: Transmitter: NGC-8438F36A I Ralechrytna Imedaka-Oeq-Irtola'yabonith

Following contact with the ASC, the Avalonian League had sent out some of its destroyers to place additional monitoring satellites, half-meter diameter spheres mass-produced easily enough on even the smallest of Avalonian Settlements, along the outer edges of their territory. When incomming FTL signatures were detected and relayed to FleetCom West on Lantia, the monitoring satellites also functioned as a communications relay. They allowed the League to communicate with any alien visitors before any unwelcome intrusions were made.
It was one of these satellites that began broadcasting a basic repeating signal just strong enough to be detected by the incomming vessel now just a few lightyears away. The message was simple enough, a terse greeting, a warning not to intrude into Avalonian space, and protocols for diplomatic contact.

--Aboard the Ganymede--
Pfhor faces weren't particularly expressive, and Mediator J'wro, as a semi-professional conciliator, was practiced in keeping his feelings tightly within his skull. As it was, his eyes didn't widen perceptibly when one of the Khar aliens approached and greeted him in a distincly familiar manner.
"A pleasant surprise indeed!" He narrowed six of his eyes in the Pfhor equivalent of a smile- "Our race has been too long separated from old acquaintances, and we've been distinctly remiss in our interstellar relations as of late." This individual had an air of exuberance about him, and J'wro came to the conclusion that he was fairly young, or at least not possessed of great field experience. Alternatively, he was reading the alien's body language entirely incorrectly. "My government is always eager for information; how fare the Khar?" In the background, he spotted a the senior Khar representative observing with a mildly pained expression.
Great mother, save me from interesting times.
--OOC: I just realised I've referred to J'wro as being a member of the "Tacted" caste, when he in fact belongs to the "Complected". Going down a caste may often result in grief and suicide, but I'll just look the other way on this one. Or do some editing, that'd work too.
