I think it was said that Pegasus Six killed some people.
I didn't like how the meeting between Cain, Adama, and Roslin didn't accomplish anything. They basically just rattled sabers at each other. I was half expecting someone to come out with "Do you have anything of substance to say, or did you just come here to spew out sound bites" or something to that effect. But then, it always pisses me off when characters refuse to communicate with each other for some stupid reason.

It was a good metaphor for international relations. Countries get together and spew crap at each other all the time, when they both know that they're going to leave that room and plot each others demise.

It could just as equally apply to Cain, since she's the military leader due to outranking Adama. And here we find out why prophecies are such an utter bitch - they tend to be vague enough to cover multiple situations .Beowulf wrote:The prophecy is that the leader will die. It could equally well apply to Adama.Vympel wrote:I wonder if Moore will push the reset button on the President's disease. The prophecy after all is that she will die.
Is it just me, or does the actress playing Admiral Cain look like Ro Laren?
As best as I can tell, the BSG number is the number of the Battlegroup the Battlestar is assigned to, much like how Fleets are numbered in contemporary navies. So, something like BSG 57 (random number selected) would be equivalent to Sixth Fleet, with the BS being somewhat analogous to a fleet carrier.AK_Jedi wrote:I don't think that the number has any relation to order commisioned or anything like that.

I think our only clue is what she said to Balthar. [bad paraphrase from memory]"I was a soldier, and I had a mission. I thought that when I completed that mission, I would die. You would kill me. But instead..."[/paraphrase]InnocentBystander wrote:Did we ever learn how the crew of the Pegasus found out that their Six was a Cylon? I seem to have missed that...

Spoiler?
Some have already speculated that Six is the one with the gun pointing at Cain. The question was how does she get loose and all? I figure this is how it all works.
Starbuck heads over on her mission. But remember, she is really on Cain's side. She wants to head back to Caprica. If she stays with Adama, that won't happen. I figure that she is heading over to do her job but does not know about the other plot yet. She steps in to kill Cain, but is told of the plot to kill Adama. She still has feeling for the old man so she heads back to the Galactica in a futile attempt to stop the de-cap. Meanwhile, Baltar accidentally or intentially gets Six loose (he's seen the scars after all). But Six wants to die and taking out the captain will get it for her.
If you saw the nBSG preview the week before, you hear the woman who plays Six say "I think I even get to kill a Cylon"
Wouldn't Cain make a perfect Cylon?
My thoughts quite likely all wrong, but it still sounds possible

Exactly what I meant. Someone said that Pegasus' lower number meant it was replacing an earlier commisioned ship, but I pointed out that the numbers are more or less arbitrary. The Dark wrote:As best as I can tell, the BSG number is the number of the Battlegroup the Battlestar is assigned to, much like how Fleets are numbered in contemporary navies. Re: nukes hitting Galactica
The cylons used up a large number of nukes in their initial assault on the colonies. With thousands of bombs detonated on the 12 worlds, that would put a large dent in any arsenal. Since Galactica has such good radiological scanners, they would be able to detect any warheads and make them primary targets. Vipers can intercept them, and then the missiles have the same chances as any others getting through PD, which is very good. They are probably rebuilding their stockpile, until they can use warheads on high risk deployments.
It doesn't matter if it's feasable or not. My point is that Adama was ready to take the same path in the miniseries, and so I don't believe that Cain is some evil bitch like other seem to be suggesting.Vympel wrote: That's how Starbuck interpreted it- Cain however wants to kick the Cylons out of the 12 colonies. With only two Battlestars, that's just delusional.

re: Roslyn
I've little doubt that dear Roslyn will die soon. The very first scene we see of her on Caprica..at the clinic...hearing she is going to die from Cancer. Surely they can't do the 'miracle' on her?
She won't be around much longer ! I am guessing that she'll be knocked off by end of this season. Wonder if they'll stick her body in a casket...to be buried on Earth..or just throw it out an airlock ?
Adama has some choices to make
I love Mary on screen, but really...she had a major role for the mini-series...and seasons 1 and 2...her time is coming to a close. A shame, but then...I feel its best for the show. Besides...I'd expect President Baltar to have an even more bizarre character story in season'3.

Ya, Rosalyn has to die. Its been too bult up and there doesn't seem to be any reasonable way to save her.
One of the best things about this show is the balls the creators have. I think waxing a beloved and important charecter shows tremendous balls. To find some deus ex machina to save her when she has been built up to die would just be weak.

I don't think she'd say it like that. She'd probably say the purpose of the military is to kill cylons, either that or rape cylons.Broomstick wrote:Thoughts about the series and episode:
In the past seasons, we've seen both Rosalind and Adama do dodgy things - putting people out the airlock, for instance. And it always looked/felt horrible, like they were skirting the edge of a cliff.
Caine has fallen over the edge.
What is the purpose of the military? To exist for itself, or to protect the civilians of a civilization? If you ask Adama, the answer is likely "to serve and protect", the military is the necessary guard for the civilians. If you ask Caine, the answer may be "to exist for itself". She puts the military above the civilians, even if it means wiping out a significant percentage of the remaining human race.

From what I understand, Roslyn isn't dead this season (I could be wrong). While some think that may be a copout, I think the way it will be handled will open up more questions/debate and radically change some character interactions. This show's writing staff hasn't shyed away from controversy and conflict in the pass and I doubt they'll do so now, just to save a dying character.
That said, I think both her and Adama are dogfood well before they find Earth.

I actually thought she was throwing it out as a way to curry favor with Starbuck, try and get her on her side.Alex Moon wrote:It doesn't matter if it's feasable or not. Oh, and folks it's ROSLIN.[/b]

That seen actually seemed to be a very subtle nod back to Roslin's origin as the Secretary of Education. Cain and Adama were sitting there like two kids who had just had a fist fight at recess and ended up in the principle's office for it. The condescension that Roslin speaks to them with is very much reminiscent of a principle's verbal spanking.Uraniun235 wrote:I think it was said that Pegasus Six killed some people.

After looking back at the ep, the Blackbird only got detected by both ships after Kara sent a signal. So perhaps that's how it was detected. They did say it was a Dradus contact, not stray transmissions, but who knows how Dradus works anyway.
Regarding ROSLIN (thank you for the correct spelling, I did wonder), I hope everyone else is right and I'm wrong, but I just don't see them killing her off. Not yet anyway. They'll do it when they're about 3 episodes away from Earth to fulfill prophecy.

Wow. Just FUCKING WOW.
That episode was amazing. Can't believe I have to wait to see the next one.
Roslin - bigger balls than anyone else.
Starbuck - wacky antics paying off again (can't wait to see her blast Cain in the fucking face).
Adama - is hopefully going to see straight through Cain's ploy.
Cains 2ic - is hopefully going to "defect", he doesn't seem to like working for her at all.

All in all, I think this episode is top notch stuff. And damn the fact that it wasn't a two-hour episode! Now I gotta wait four more days to see what happens!

Does anyone else think that Season 3 is going to show us factions and divides within the Cylons? We've seen that humanoid cylons left to their own devices for long enough will develop away from standard programming (ref - Six wanting to kill the Resurrection ship so she can die and forget what has happened to her, unless this is just a trap of course) and I can see the idea of Boomers baby possibly being divisive.
What do people think of this idea?

re: cylon factions in season'3.
I think they'll still keep it somewhat mysterious...nothing too elaborated.
*when I think about it...we've not seen much 'travelling' to the mythical Earth have we? I want to see Adama pondering over a 10foot wide wallscreen.. Earth sector on one side...and Caprica on the other.
--
Listening to the podcasts...seems like Moore has little idea where they'll be next year than we do. With things as they are, I believe things we develop a lot less fast than people might be expecting.
I hope Moore makes the time to visit a few of the BSG message boards...if only to read about what we don't wanna see !
--
As for Roslin...it will be very sad to see her go. For the doubters...how can you, after the scene with Adama at Roslins side just last episode? I guess we'll see Zarak again soon...if Baltar rises to president?

I posted this elsewhere but I feel it might be more appropriate here given the nature of this forum, it was in response to someone saying nanotech would probably be used or some such:
Nitpicking and I am going to become an extreme nerd here as well but I don't think Cylons got nanotech, but possibly microscopic tech(nano is atom-level small and thats just too far gone and an uneccesary level of sophistication), tech that is small enough that they can create synthetic cells that are atleast externally readily apparent as human ones.
I think they could mimick the human DNA strand method for storing information about the organism in some weird and synthetic way, that would also have to closely mimick the human genome in order to be interchangeable(otherwise a cylon/human hybrid might not be possible).
Ofcourse it is also possible that the inside of a cylon cell has a completely digital storage(little computer) instead of a physical, synthetic DNA strand. Which would imply that Helo's DNA was scanned and then randomly mixed with Boomers in a completely virtual fashion and the baby thats growing is essentially cylon in nature but the "DNA" stored in its cells are made from Boomer and Helo.
In both cases Cylon cells could also have completely different analouges to various organelles(mithocondria, ribosomes and such) in human cells.
