Computer Problem; Continual BSOD'ing

Post by Elheru Aran »

HEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPP

There.

Anyway. My computer keeps BSOD'ing. I thought it was the video card like before, and seating it into the slot like before helped, but now the error message is like so:

Code: Select all

BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER
Can anybody explain that? I recently installed a new Logitech mouse; I already had a wireless keyboard/mouse, Dell standard that came with the computer.

The other USB devices are a HP PSC-1210 printer that's been giving me error messages lately about low ink, a Creative Labs webcam, and the input cord for my Olympus digital camera. I removed all those; the only USB device left now is the receiver for my keyboard/mouse (I put the old one back into action temporarily).

This is getting *fucking* annoying... the BSOD was happening like THREE FUCKING MINUTES after startup until I waggled the vid card in a bit tighter and pulled out all the other USB devices. Now I'm not sure how long it'll last, but I'm hoping it'll go awhile...

But anyway, any help you guys can offer will be GREATLY appreciated...

Reposting one of my old posts about BSOD.

Thought I would share this information on how to get some information out of a Blue Screen Of Death BSOD for short.

First of make sure that you log the crash, to do this follow these simple steps.

1. Right Click on my computer and choose properties.
2. Click on the advanced tab
3. Under startup and recovery choose Settings
4. Chose small memory dump and make a note of where it will be saved, usually c:\windows\Minidump\
5. Download and install Microsoft debugging tool, Microsoft.com
6. Start windbg choose “file/open crash dump” navigate to the memory dump file.
7. Here you might a indication of what is wrong, in my case the driver ar5211.sys
8. For more information about the crash type “!analyze –v”

But if you get inconsistent error and different drivers all the time, it is likely that the memory is at fault.

Or if this is a hassle for you use this site.

That error can frequently mean a USB device plugged in is not working properly. Either the driver is malfunctioning or the device is not responding properly to it, so it throws a paddy.

If you've just installed a new device and the error starts appearing, there's a good chance it will be the new device.

That could be possible. I got a Logitech G5, or was it G7? Not sure, but anyway, I installed it a few days ago... I'm not sure all the drivers installed properly, though... so yeah. I'll look into that. Meanwhile I'm plugging a few of my devices into the front USB ports, and it's working fine so far.

Faram-- I'll check on that. Thanks.

Stand by for more info...

Re-install the drivers for your USB devices (check for updated ones first). Might as well check for updated drivers for your USB ports on your motherboard.

Also, double-check to make sure that there isn't any physical damage to the USB ports.
