Excellent. I was not at all keen on having to deal with a problem like that.

Is it just me or do facilities take on the order of years to build?

No, that's everyone. This mod gives MASSIVE contruction rate penalities for low populations. IIRC, most worlds can't even hold enough people to remove the penalty, let alone start getting a bonus. 'Tis the reason I suggested against a B5 game when the idea first came up.

Green worlds must be sought out, jeolously guarded, and have population from the home worlds transferred to them in this mod to expand one's industrial capacity.

That's why I'm so wierded out by all seven of you guys. You can build an orbital space yard in 1 turn on your homeworld. I'm making tons of them because they only build at 1 rate. I figure that by the time I research better engines, it'll make up for the lost time. Plus, any minerals in storage are minerals that are wasted so I'm preparing a lot of construction ability.

1 speed ships? That blows. I'm waiting for my gravimetric drives hehe.

Basically, when a world hits around 500million people, then it'll build facilities in .3 or so years. Which is fine, considering how powerful individual facilties are in this game (your homeworld ALONE should be able to support an empire compared to them).

Each facility provides around 2000 or more minerals. Only research accumulates slowly. Be sure to keep the transports moving.

In this Mod, green worlds are very valuable, yes. But everyone starts with atmosphere reprocessor tech. It may take a while to get working, but basically by our time in the ST game, everyone should have tons of greens.

What's with your 1 speed ships? I'm at four for my colonizers, which is plenty-fine for a two turn ship.

Actually I just checked, it is 4 speed.

That is pretty good actually, but I'm still using my homeworlds to build space yards. I'll use the space yards to build colonizers. We'll see. There is a massive stockade of minerals, +65k per turn for me. I don't want any to be going into the bank ideally so more space yards are good

<edit>Cool that the Vorlons started out close to the Minbari and Shadows to the Centauri.</edit>

How small is this galaxy? It's only turn 4 and we've already got two first contacts. We didn't even make contact in the ST game that fast. Though it did work out quite nicely with where everyone is.

edit: he read the RP thread, Gups. :P

Now, I believe there's a certain question you want to ask me.

edit2: And I've never build space yard bases because of the slow construction rate of the ship yard I component. True, you could build a ton of them and it should even out, but by the time the finish, the ships they were building may have become obsolete. Even so, I'll probably give it a shot.

As to the atmosphere adjuster tech, I wouldn't count on it. The version we have now is the best one we'll get (at least, it's the best one I'll get, anyway) and it takes 60 years worth of game time to convert the atmosphere.

Sixty years is about ten turns away in the Star Trek game. And the B5 game will probably last twice as long as the Star Trek game.

It's different for Raiders. Raiders will stockpile tons and tons of fighters so construction bases will always be useful. My bases are spawning new bases, and in a few turns I'll have 30 bases. The Space Yard I component only constructs at 1k, but that's fine for fighters. And transports, they never get outdated.

We've made fast contacts because Ancient scout ships are REALLY REALLY fast. The UI is limiting my exploration more than the speed of the vessels (I know you can blind-move, but it's a little hit-and-miss so far).

:wtf: The current date in the ST game is 2405.1. The start date was 2400.0. Six years are only about ten turns away.

Whops lol.

I guess those stories about the hundreds and hundreds of turn games are not exagerrated.

Maybe it's a typo and means sixty turns. Wanna check the facilities files, anyone?

Speak for yourself. As soon as I get the ability to sweep 100 mines and put together a sizeable fleet with a few thousand troops, I'm invading someone :D.

Ah. First contact with a neutral race. I wonder whether it's feasible to try and conquer someone at this point. Another homeworld would be a huge, massive boost.

By the way, I admire the speed at which we're submitting turns. Three today, I believe.

Another homeworld's always a big boost, though I do understand your point. I'm not sure how feasible it is, though. Never really tried it this early in the game. Not sure if infantry units would be up to the task.

I've made another first contact. The Narn. Here's hoping that the Shadows are willing to help me raise a little hell.

But seriously, though, why are we so damned close together? The galaxy doesn't look THAT small.

B5 ships are a lot faster than ST ships. I've got a very nice minbari scout fleet right now.

I'm a little curious as to when exactly in the timeline the B5 game is set, and what knowledge is out there from an RP perspective. Returning Vorlons might well act differently to the olc versions.
