Not for certain. The novelization mentions the possibility, but it hasn't been confirmed or disproven. They are both native to Tatooine, however.

It was never spelled out, but that woman who was the Jedi historian and basically became the vice headmistress of Luke academy--I think her name was Tionne or something similar--was mentioned to be only part human or something in the Young Jedi Knight books.

The Young Jedi Knights books also feature the weirdest cross species couple that I'm aware of (damn you KJA). Raynar Thul, some human kid, and this one alien female named Lusa (I think) that I seemed to recall being similar to a centaur.

And yet Jawa Juice is served on Coruscant... interesting. ;)

Didn't Wedge and Qwi Xu have a relationship or something? Plus Kit Fisto and that one other Jedi...
fun/fantasy movies existed before the overrated Star Wars came out. What exactly are Sandpeople, anyway? Are they humans, near-humans or an entirely separate alien species?

I doubt Jawa Juice has any real Jawa in it :)
And Kit Fisto.. what a player.

Well, the writers/makeup-artists/concept designers left it open on wether Twi'leks and humans can produce children. If you look at the Twi'lek costumes, you'll notice their are two different sort of ear shapes. The cone-ears that look bone-like, and the elf-like ears. Plus those who have the cone-like ears almost always seem to have pointed teeth, while the ones with the elf-like have non-pointed teeth. Useful for future plot explotations if you ask me.
This is sickening... You sound like chapters from a self-help booklet! Prepare yourselves!

I was under the impression that all Twi'lek had ear-cones, and that the sharpened teeth was simply a trait found in males. Could you provide a pic of what your talking about?

Do you want pictures I can find off of google, or do you want me to get some screenshots? I'd rather do this the lazy way to be honest.=/

Whichever, as long as it's from an offical source. I have seen numerous bits of fan art with human ears, but I always assumed it was simply an error on their part.

I think so too. Hell, the more I think about this, the more it seems like there are a few pictures of twi'leks with the elf-like ears, but most of those pics seem to be from the Star Wars cartoons and video games. Maybe that's why a lot of people seem to think this, as some artist who never paid huge attention to the actual design was hired to do artwork for a few games and shit, and made an error that's propagated.

Nat Secura. A Twi'lek who doesn't appear to have Cone shaped ears.

I don't recall seeing Bib Fortuna having cone shaped ears either, but I could be wrong about that one. On the other hand, Oola the dancer does have them.

Perhaps cone shaped ears are unique to female Twi'leks?

Thank you Archon.

As for the ears being specific to females only, you may be right. I have a screenshot of two male Twi'lek's with round human-like ears here.

Thanks for the pics.
Actually, according to Wiki at least, all Twi'lek have human-like ears, but females traditionally wear the ear caps, painted and textured to look like skin. I suppose that makes sense, although I'm not familiar with the source.

I only recall references to mating with Bothans and Twi'lek (and Faleen, in Xizor's case). While the former is a bit odd, the latter pretty much seems the norm, and what the species is largely bred for. Every other reference I can think of deals with near-humans, who are, as the name suggests, near human in appearance, and may even be sexually viable with humans (ie, Kiffar, Haruun Kal, possibly Miraluka and Chiss).
dont ask me where i got this from, my knowledge of SW EU is grouped in one big ball in my brain but, i remmeber that Chiss werent campatable to Humans, nitpick there but i just wanted to add that

to me it seem that bulbs on side of the head are remnants of second pair of lekku (the same way as the humps on head of the males)

Are there any pics of "ear cones" unaccompanied by a headdress? Because they look like they could be part of the headdress to me.

As I recall, Tales from Jabba's Palace stated that they were part of the headress, and that Oola's had been made to limit her hearing.

Well, it could either be that they are another species entirely, or that they developed so differently on Chisla that they can no longer produce viable offspring with more mundane humans, perhaps relating the the prominent minerals that had the effect of coloring their skin. Such deviations in species have occured before.

I think that the Rakata from KOTOR ( I know not canon but I'm not aware of anything contradicting it) had Tatooine in their Empire when it was a lush, fertile world, and when the natives rebelled, the slagged it, creating the Tatooine we now know. I believe the survivors eventually became the Jawas and the Sand people. Been a while since I've played the game but I'm pretty sure it went something like that.
