Borg cube with commercial grade SW technology

What if the borg showed up near the outer rim, and started assimilating SW worlds that have little or no defenses during the republic days as seen in TPM? What if a cube used it's "scoop up all of the machine elements off the face of the planet maneuver" and picked up Mos Eisly spaceport. Lots of different technologies there for the borg to pick up, and just small smuggler/bounty hunter craft as defence.

the borg could then assimilate all of these technologies (who knows what Jabba's got hidden) and at least adapt defences to them if not build them into their ship. The amount of people assimilated would be large and the borg population would rise slightly (but not hugely, who knows how many borg will die from not being able to adapt to everything)

The borg could spread througout the outer rim, but once the republic knows what's going on, they'll crush the borg easily, I'll have to admit.
My point is, the borg would still wreak havoc, but just in the outer rim.

Two, we've seen distinct limit to assimilation given what Voyager shown. Assimilation does not mean instant grab of technology.
